A good tour with a few problems.
We loved the suggested cycling routes but reading the directions and finding our way was arduous at times made more difficult by errors in the material. We always used common sense and figured out the errors but it was time consuming. Our hotels in La Rochelle and Royan were lovely. Rochefort?s hotel has changed names from La Corderie to Hotel Mercure so we wandered around for a while before we figured it out. The hotel had 4 stars but the room was small and dark and located right over the noisy entrance. Very disappointing. Hotel Ibis in Marennes was located in an industrial area too far to walk to town - most disappointing. Contact with both the local and Rad & Reisen contact was useless. The hotel dinner was surprisingly good but we didn?t get to visit Marennes. The staff at Hotel Miramar was really helpful in assisting us to find a taxi to the train station in Royan.
