Lake Konstanz mid-June 10 people tour
We started the tour with an awful weather forecast, but then, it didn’t rain too much, and we had some sunny days without hot. The bikes were almost new and well equipped and Udo from Radweg in Konstanz was very kind and helpful adapting the bikes to our desires.
Although the tour is rated as cat. 1 be prepared for some steep ramps (this is unavoidable !) but depending on where the hotels are located you may have to cover around 60 Km. For some people in our time that was too tiresome. Should we have know this from the beginning, we have rented more e-bikes. Unfortunately, Radweg had run out of these when we visited and tried to hire them. As an example, hotel St. Leonhard in Uberlingen is located at the very top of a hill. So, when you are ending the end of your daily stage you find yourself having to escalate a 2 Km long very steep way. The reward is the hotel itself, very nice and with beautiful views.
The good knews is that very often you have the possibility to skip a few km by jumping on the train with your bike, for those that are too tired. The hotels would require to be evaluated one by one because they quality was very different from one to the other. To be mentioned Hotel Halm in Konstanz, with a warm welcome and attention to the service, and on the opposite side of our evaluation Hotel Rheingold in Gailingen, which is also poorly situated, as it’s 10 km away from the natural placement fro the stage, that should be Stein am Rhein, a much more interesting site.
The tour itself is very nice and we would reccomend it to anyone wishin´ to spend a week of cycling around Lake Konstanz
