A good and varied trip.
Overall this was a good trip, with diverse scenery and places, which we very much enjoyed. There is certainly a lot of uphill and downhill cycling, but we expected this and it is not a problem if you are reasonably fit and cycle regularly. We were fortunate with the weather (in late August) - no rain all week and comfortable temperatures.
On the negative side, there are a number of quite long road sections with occasional fast, heavy, vehicles. These would be unpleasant in wet conditions. We also felt that, due to the fairly long cycling routes, there was sometimes not enough time to look at the places through which we were passing. For instance, we would have liked a bit more time in Cesky Krumlov.
The route description was good and we had no problems finding the way, although some of the information was out of date. (For instance, we took the shortcut from Milesov to Koubalova Lhota on day 2 even though it described as having a "very bad surface". In fact, the road has been resurfaced and is excellent).
The bikes were in excellent condition and well maintained. They are quite heavy and have no front suspension, but in practice they were very easy and smooth to ride.
Accommodation was good. We had selected "half board" - the dinners were mostly good, with the exception of the hotel in Budweis.
The trip was very well organised, particular thanks to Miklos Krisch who managed our last minute booking. The only two small problems that we had were that our luggage was delivered to the wrong hotel in Pisek, and the first two hotels seemed to be unaware that we had booked evening dinners.
