Good mix of terrain and sights
Interesting contrasts riding through the vineyards, sleepy old villages, farm fields, waterways. I would recommend this route to cyclists in reasonably good condition. A couple of the hills through the wineries were a bit more than I expected in the above average heat but all was well in the end. The Colmar to Mullhouse day was the least interesting as it was all flat with unrelenting headwinds but you can’t fool mother nature. I’ll take the hills over the headwinds anytime. The last day into Basel was pleasant rolling hills through tiny towns. Directions were mostly ok except for the forays into the towns, where street signs did not always match the directions. We spent 40 km getting lost and found over the week, the only real downside of the tour. Once we got into Basel, major city road construction on the route forced us to improvise a new route to our hotel but a local was happy to give us directions in langsam German I could understand.
Overall a very nice time. I would recommend that the tour company provide more street map blowup through the towns with frequent direction changes.
