Bruges home-based tour
We thoroughly enjoyed this self-guided cycling tour! The Hotel Navarra is a great place to stay, centrally located with a staff knowledgeable about cycling. As usual, booking through Rad & Reisen was easy and reliable. We strongly recommend spending an extra day or two in Bruges to appreciate what it has to offer--a fabulous city, very walkable, with a lot of history and culture (and great beer). The route map plus guidebook are easy to follow, the routes are varied and interesting, and we had delightful weather in late March! Our only suggestion for improvement: Include more information in the guidebook about places to eat along the way, and places to buy picnic food in Bruges when there will be long stretches of cycling without pubs or restaurants. Especially on the Torhout Castles loop, we found little to eat en route--no grocery shops, no sandwich shops, only one bakery (closed), but a great pub Den Heirweg (mentioned in the guidebook, thanks so much!) where we should have eaten more. We were there early and didn’t realize we wouldn’t find anywhere else to eat until shortly before Brugge (a little off the path). Thanks, Rad & Reisen, for another great cycling trip.
