Well worth visit to the Iron Gates
We had previously been on this ship and with the same tour director, Andreas. The ship needs some major updating. All the staff, from reception, cleaning, hotel manager, tour director, and restaurant were excellent and very positive. One route had to be changed because of river conditions. The route was on roads which were easy to identify. However, some of the fast traffic did not tolerate bikes being on their roads well. Granted some of the riders from the ship rode in groups and were not carefully about keeping in line. We stayed away from any groups. The cities we visited were beautiful and we docked within easy access. We were pleased that the dining room was air conditioned. However, the cabin we had was not air conditioned and the windows needed some work to help them open and close more easily. Hopefully the shower curtains will be replaced over the winter. The linens needed updating as even the towels were torn and threadbare. The cleaning staff was wonderful about replacing the towels often and did their best. We were glad to have taken the trip to get a quick view of life in Serbia, Croatia and eastern Hungary. The best routes were west of Budapest and along the Danube River and we greatly enjoyed those. Overall I would say that if you are looking for quaint villages to ride through the one week Danube tours as far as Budapest would be a better choice. There was a very large group of American bike club riders who made for a very noisy ship especially at dinner and in common areas.
