The winding roads of Rhodes: our 2015 cycle tour
Having done the Venice to Croatia cycle tour in 2015, we found the Rhodes island cycle tour to be very different! Firstly, we were met at the airport in Rhodes Town and brought by shuttle by one of the tour organizers, Ineke, to the starting point, in Kalavarda. Everything was handled efficiently yet in a friendly and personal way. We found the route instructions to be very clear and easy to follow. We appeared to be the only people doing our particular seven day tour of the island, so we did not encounter any other cyclists from this tour en route. The accommodation provided was comfortable, but mostly very basic and typical of small family run hotels in Greece. We enjoyed the diversity of the scenery mountain villages, traditional villages, coastal towns, the coastline etc. The route was much more difficult and with more hills to climb than on our previous tour. However, the hilly climbs afforded many wonderful views (and I was grateful for the use of an electric bike).
