The cycling path is completely paved from one end to the other, flat, almost always directly along the riverbank and is also very suitable for beginners and children.

Day 1: Passau

Individual arrival. Use your remaining time for a city tour or go for a walk through the picturesque old part of town. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. bike hand over – for late arrivals on the next morning.

Day 2: Passau – Linz, approx. 53 km + ship ride Passau-Schlögen

The Upper Danube Valley with its steep and heavily wooded slopes is almost untouched and an idyllic place to cycle through. You catch the ship to Schlögen and continue on through the impressive Danube loop, where the river makes an about turn of 180 degrees. Continue to cycle through the Eferdinger Basin to Linz, the Upper Austrian capital where you will stay for the evening. Enjoy the summer night with a shopping tour in the charming old part of town.

Day 3: Linz – Strudengau, approx. 60 km

Don´t miss a city tour in Linz before you continue on to Strudengau and later Enns, the oldest city in Austria. Also make sure not to miss the Grein Maritime Museum and the oldest theatre in Austria.

Day 4: Strudengau – Krems/surroundings, approx. 52 km + ship ride Melk-Dürnstein

Today you continue to cycle through Ybbs-Persenbeug and Maria Taferl until you reach Emmersdorf, home of the gateway to the Wachau. On the other side of the Danube is the magnificent monastery of Melk which is observed from afar, but not without a lasting impression. Enjoy the ship ride to Krems.

Day 5: Krems/surroundings – Tulln, approx. 41 km

Starting the day by biking through a spectacular landscape with steep rock walls, sun-kissed terraced vineyards, beautifully blooming orchards, quaint villages, dignified monasteries and authentic castles, take advantage of all the splendid panoramic outlooks, until you reach Tulln.

Day 6: Tulln – Vienna, approx. 35 km

The goal for today as you cycle along the Tullnerfield is the capital of Austria, Vienna. Approaching Vienna you will have a fantastic view of the skyline far removed from the fast paced city. Vienna is a city that loves its music and food. Discover the historical city center with all of its sights and monuments.

Day 7: Vienna

Before leaving Vienna, make sure to visit the famous Naschmarkt (international foods/goods) and stop by the well-known leisure park "Prater". Extension at Vienna or train ride back to Passau (Season 1+2) or comfortable by bus (season 3).

    Bicycle breakdowns

    It can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive repair vouchers which you can present in our authorised workshops along the way. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number! In a few hotels/guest houses we have some bikes on stock if you need to change them during the trip.


    Private bicycles

    You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

    Valid for danube cycle path: For the return journey to Passau we recommend the reservation of the bus transfer or the train ride - some trains offer bicycle-parking possibilities, however those are limited and a reservation is necessary.


    Rental bike disclaimer

    If a traveller rents a  bike, he is basically liable for damages and theft. When booking our rental bike disclaimer, we assume liability so that in case of loss or damage to the rental bike (when properly used and secured) no financial responsibility must be paid. Excluded from this are only lost keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes, as well as damage due to intent or gross negligence.

    Airport: Munich (MUC), Salzburg (SZG) , Linz (LNZ) , Vienna (VIE)

    Train connections with 1-2 changes from Vienna Airport to Passau (travel time: approx. 3-3,5 hours). Our included train ticket from Vienna to Passau can also be used directly from Vienna Airport (surcharge: € 7,-).

    ARRIVAL BY CAR

    Parking: Unfortunately you can not park your car free of charge in Passau. However there are the following » possibilities parking your car during your holiday - please note parking expenses have to be paid on the spot.

    The bike hand over is located near the Globus Garage.

    ARRIVAL BY TRAIN

    Train station: Munich, Salzburg, Linz, Vienna

    Direct train connections from Vienna Central Station. A train ticket from Vienna to Passau is included in the tourprice. You can use it at the beginning or at the end of the tour.

    • Taxi Munich airport – Freising train station (approx. € 25,-), train ride Freising – Passau (Bavarian ticket: 1. person € 25,-. Each further person € 6,- (up to 4 persons)
    • Bustransfer: In season 3 (May 23 – September 22), we can organize a bus transfer from your hotel in Vienna back to Passau. Especially when you bring your own bike, this is recommendable (bike transport is included). The pick-up time in Vienna is between 8.30 and 9.30 a.m. Die transfer takes approx. 4,5 hours and ends optionally at Globus Garage (Messestraße 6) or at Passau central Station.

    Helmets: are mandatory in Austria for children up to 12 years! Please bring your own fitting helmet.
