The deserted villages of the Loire (with some castles)
The route was well planned and from previous cycling in France we expected to have a lot of options for mid-day food. Maybe it was ’out of season’, but for the first two days we found ourselves hunting for anywhere to get food especially on the 2nd day when we arrived after a leisurely and interesting ride, in the Fontevraud l’Abbaye at 14:15 and there was no food being served to new customers in the entire town. After that we bought food at the start of the day and had picnics in deserted villages where there was not even a cup of coffee available. Neverthe less we enjoyed our holiday
