The Drau Cycle Path (“Drauradweg” in German) runs from the Dolomites on the southern side of the Alps to Varadin in Croatia. The segment covered by our cycling tour includes the section between East Tyrol and Carinthia. While the mountains pass to the left and right, you cross old towns and dreamy villages and pass castles and palaces. Over 270 km, the Drau cycle path in this section not only leads past numerous impressive landscapes and sights, the Italian cuisine, Tyrolean specialties and Carinthian delights also make it a culinary delight.

The Best Time to Travel Along the Drau Cycle Path

The best time to cycle along the Drau Cycle Path is from April to October. Each season has its own special features that make a tour along the Drau cycle path memorable:

  • In spring the mountain peaks are sometimes still covered in snow and the first flowers are sprouting.
