Arrival Information

A relaxed trip begins with well-planned travel arrangements. Travel to and from our destinations is always individual and independent. This allows you to remain flexible in your choice of transportation, travel duration, and departure point. To ensure you are well prepared, you will find all the important information and tips on climate-friendly alternatives here.

Climate-friendly travel

Getting there is an essential part of any trip and at the same time one of the biggest levers for reducing your carbon footprint. That’s why we recommend choosing climate-friendly modes of transportation whenever possible. Train and bus travel cause significantly fewer emissions than cars or planes and allow for relaxed, conscious travel from the very beginning. The following comparison shows how much the choice of transportation affects CO₂ emissions and why sustainable travel makes a noticeable difference.

The data for this was obtained from the German Federal Environment Agency (2024) and simplified for our purposes.

Arrival by train

Wherever possible, we recommend environmentally friendly travel by train. Many of our starting and finishing points are well connected to the European rail network, enabling relaxed, sustainable travel – often even with direct bicycle transport (individual restrictions apply).

Arrival by bus

For some destinations, traveling by long-distance bus can be a climate-friendly and inexpensive alternative. However, the availability and quality of connections vary greatly depending on the region, season, and provider. Flixbus offers an affordable option and a well-developed network. Please note: options are often limited, especially when traveling with bicycles.

Other ways to travel

Even though traveling by train or bus is the most climate-friendly option, it’s not always possible to get to where you want to go by public transport. If you decide to travel by car or plane, here’s an overview of the most important info.

Arrival by car

Arriving in your own car offers maximum flexibility, especially for round trips or more remote starting points. For many trips, there are public parking facilities or long-term parking spaces near the starting hotel or landing point. You will receive detailed information on parking facilities and costs in good time with your travel documents. We recommend using the route planner from Viamichelin to plan your journey.

Arrival by plane

For long-distance trips or destinations outside Europe, traveling by plane is often the only option. Comparison platforms such as Checkfelix offer a good way to find the best deal. We are happy to assist you in assessing suitable airports, arrival times, and onward travel to the starting point of your tour. Local transfers can be organized or recommended depending on the trip.
