Home-based tour in Provence, France
This tour appears to have been co-ordinated by a Norwegian company. The biggest problem initially was that while useful route descriptions were provided NO LOCAL MAPS AND NO ROUTE MAPS WERE GIVEN. Other issues included (1) the apparent absence of a local representative (the bikes were left for us to collect in a yard but no direct contact with a bike rep), (2) the bag at front of bike was quite droopy with result it was not that easy to use its flap as a place from which route descriptions could be read, (3) While the route notes were generally quite clear, more warning might have been given about the dirt road described on page 24 of the notes (Day 4): it was actually thick gravel that was hard to ride and one of us came off: there was no indication that this surface was ahead.
Overall, this was an interesting location and the route descriptions were generally good, but it was a big drawback that no maps were provided. The hotel was ok - sometimes it seemed to be very busy. I think we would recommend this particular tour, but it might be suggested there is also some room still for improvement to the information being provided and perhaps to the bicycle liaison service.
