Via Claudia Augusta Augsberg to Verona 2018
Route directions were brilliant, no chance of getting lost using the maps, notes and the excellent extra green triangle stickers which kept us on route.
Bikes were very good quality and we had no problems.
Transfers / baggage very well organised and our luggage was always there to meet us.
Cycle route was good although there were a couple of dull days near the end along the river with a busy road in earshot but the last day along the canal into Verona made up for that.
Hotels were all excellent apart from the one at Belluna Veronese which is in a completely unacceptable location. The motorway backs onto the hotel and you can see the stream of lorries as you approach, although the motorway screens mask some of the noise. As the hotel is not walking distance from the village, and there are no street lights to walk back, you can’t sample the gastronomy but end up being taken to the owners other hotel on another main road for dinner which is just ok. If we had known we would have been happy to pay more for a better location or to have a 3 star in place of a 4 star elsewhere.
Apart from this it was a great holiday.
