Beautiful views. So-so hotels
This was a beautiful tour and pretty much as described in the website. There are some things which could easily have made this a five star experience. First, pretty accurate to describe these as three star hotels. I’m not sure why no upgraded accommodations can be offered. Do we really need hotels were the only soap offered is in a small, tear-open pack, of which you get two, or towels so thin you can almost see through them? And be sure you will be getting the worst room with the worst view in every hotel. But the real problem with the hotels is their location. In retrospect I would not book again without knowing exactly which hotels are being offered. Seems simple now but we didn’t do it. Several of our hotels were miles outside town - in Constanz more than 8 miles. When we asked about this we were told it was because of our late booking (Juy 4 for a tour starting Sept. 7). Well OK but you should have told us this when we booked. This is not in keeping with the tour description and really, booking a tour and only finding out shortly before you leave where you’re staying! Don’t do it. Similar complaint on the bikes. They are exactly as pictured and were in good condition. That said, they are very, very heavy and make the tour a slog sometimes when it doesn’t need to be. How about offering a bike upgrade? In short, we’d have been willing to pay more for better hotels and bikes but this was not an option. Liked the tour but would probably go elsewhere in the future to address these concerns.
