Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, the beautiful Salzkammergut as well as many lakes and rivers, and finally the Waltz Metropole Vienna make this cycling trip to an unique experience.

Day 1: Innsbruck

Individual arrival and check-in. You receive your travel documents. Take your time strolling through the vibrant city in the Alps with its famous "Goldenes Dachl" (golden roof).

Day 2: Innsbruck – Zillertal, approx. 45 km

Worth seeing is the old city center with the "Golden Roof". After that, you leave Innsbruck by the Olympic Village and cycle via Hall to Wattens. Here you can visit the Swarovski Crystal Worlds. Via Schwaz you reach Strass im Zillertal.

Day 3: Zillertal – Wörgl, approx. 25 km

Today several castles show the way to Brixlegg and Rattenberg (smallest town in Tyrol). Passing the popular "Kundler Klamm" (Kundler Gorge) until you reach Wörgl.

Day 4: Wörgl - Kirchberg, approx. 24 km

From the Inntal Valley you cycle into the hilly “Kaiserwinkl” of Tyrol. You absolutely should plan a longer break on the idyllic Walchsee before you cycle via Waidach through the imposing Tyrolean mountain landscape to today’s Kirchberg.

Day 5: Kirchberg - Lofer, approx. 45 km

Today you cycle towards the Upper Austrian Innviertel and you should not miss to see Altötting, one of the most popular pilgrimage sites of Bavaria and Marktl, birthplace of Pope Benedict XVI. Shortly after Braunau you cycle through the impressive European reservation of the Lower River Inn with its species rich bird world and flora.

Day 6: Lofer - Salzburg, approx. 45 km

Leaving the traditional Lofer, the cycle route leads you along the banks of the Saalach along the "green border" to the Bavarian Bad Reichenhall. Once again, in Austria, you will meet soon in the cultural city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Day 7: Salzburg - Wolfgangsee, approx. 45 km

You begin the tour exploring the birthplace of the world famous classical composer W.A. Mozart. Cycling along the breathtaking Drachenwand you reach the beautiful Mondsee. Enjoy the downhill to St.Gilgen and let the day end up with a ship ride on the “Wolfgangsee”.

Day 8: Wolfgansee - Traunsee, approx. 40 km

You explore St.Wolfgang before you cycle to the old imperial village of Bad Ischl, where you find traces and follow the footprints of Emperor Franz Josef and his Empress Sissi all over the area. A “must-do” is a stop at the famous pastry shop “Zauner”. Along the river Traun you cycle until Traunkirchen.

Day 9: Traunsee - Linz, approx. 70 km

This cycling stretch leads you through the villages of Laakirchen and Steyrermühl on to Lambach. In Lambach take the train to the state capital of Upper Austria, Linz.

Day 10: Linz - Strudengau,approx. 60 km

Enjoy the day with a visit to the monastery in St. Florian and stop by the oldest towns in Austria, the welcoming village of Enns. Discover the romantic baroque village of Grein, where the oldest existing theatre in Austria is located.

Day 11: Strudengau - Wachau, approx. 50 km

Passing through the regions of Strudengau and Nibelungengau, you reach the famous Wachau, nominated as an UNESCO World Culture Heritage Area. Visit the unique Benedictine monastery of Melk or sample the local wine at one of the "Heurigen“ (typical Austrian wine taverns).

Day 12: Wachau - Region Krems, approx. 40 km

During your travel to Krems you cycle through the attractive vineyards of Spitz, Weissenkirchen and Dürnstein. Along the way you see cozy Taverns, where you can relax and enjoy the Austrian hospitality.

    The Wachau Valley is Austria’s most famous wine region along the Danube River. In the historical "Salzstadl" (storage for salt) dating back to the 17th century you will learn more about, and taste local white wines (Grüner Vetliner, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc), and a local Red wine (Zweigelt). Served with brown bread from the village bakery.

Day 13: Region Krems - Vienna, approx. 45 km + train ride Tulln-Vienna

Today you cycle through the unique cultural landscape of this UNESCO world heritage region until Tulln. From there the journey goes on by train and leads you to the Capital of Austria, Vienna.

    Bicycle breakdowns

    It can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive repair vouchers which you can present in our authorised workshops along the way. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number! In a few hotels/guest houses we have some bikes on stock if you need to change them during the trip.


    Private bicycles

    You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

    Valid for danube cycle path: For the return journey to Passau we recommend the reservation of the bus transfer or the train ride - some trains offer bicycle-parking possibilities, however those are limited and a reservation is necessary.


    Rental bike disclaimer

    If a traveller rents a  bike, he is basically liable for damages and theft. When booking our rental bike disclaimer, we assume liability so that in case of loss or damage to the rental bike (when properly used and secured) no financial responsibility must be paid. Excluded from this are only lost keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes, as well as damage due to intent or gross negligence.
