Tour profile/Level 1

You follow flat, asphalted bike paths and side roads in traditional landscapes of small winding rivers and canals, polders, dykes and windmills. This tour is well-suited to those who have never taken a cycling holiday before as it is flat and predominantly traffic-free - you also have the option to skip the cycling and relax on board.

Day 1: Amsterdam - Zaandam

Embarkation and check-in in the center of Amsterdam bet 1 p.m and 2 p.m. As soon as all guests have arrived a short cruise will bring you to Zaandam, a spot famous for its windmills. Here, your barge will berth in the center of the city for the night. Upon arrival you can enjoy taking your new bike for a brief test ride through the surrounding area. In the evening, enjoy a short walk through the picturesque center of Zaandam.

Day 2: Zaandam - Hoorn, approx. 41- 51 km

After breakfast set out on your first cycling tour to the Zaanse Schans open air museum for a short visit. Continue cycling through small villages in the beautiful historic polder named De Beemster historic polder named De Beemster. Today’s bike tour ends in the town of Hoorn, e tour ends in the town of Hoorn, former home of the Dutch East India Company and one of the world’s most important harbors in the 17th century.

 

Day 3: Hoorn- Vianen, approx. 39- 46 km

After breakfast, you will take the ferry for a half hour crossing from Volendam to the former island of Marken. Visit this nice, authentic village and continue cycling along the coastline towards IJburg, a new and modern part of Amsterdam that was recently built on reclaimed land from the sea. From thereon you’ll cycle to the historical town of Muiden with its 14th Century castle on the waterfront. Your cycling tour ends in the nearby village of Weesp, where the ship is moored. Around 5 p.m. the ship departs for Vianen and you can enjoy a three course dinner while cruising. Evening and night on board in Vianen, a small fortified town on the lower Rhine River.

Day 4: Vianen - Rotterdam, approx 32 km

During the ship will sail to Schoonhoven, the  “Silver City”,  where today’s cycling tour starts. The tour takes you through the Alblasserwaard polder  to Kinderdijk, a village famous for its impressive row of  19 large windmills.  Listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage site, these windmills are a definite highlight of any trip to the Netherlands.  From nearby Alblasserdam you’ll board the  the “Waterbus” fast ferry, which wwill take you  and your bicy our bicycle into the center of  Rotterdam in about 20 minutes.


With its vibrant waterfront, this city is Europe’s largest por gest port. In the afternoon, a local uide will show you the most interesting corners of the inner city. Dinner on board is not included this evening, so you can  enjoy a wonderful meal at one of Rotterdam´s many restaurants.

 

Day 5: Rotterdam - Gouda, approx. 35- 45 km

After breafkast, bike right through Rotterdam and follow the winding river Rotte to leave the city. You will soon find yourself cycling through teh  Green heart of Holland to Gouda, the cheese and candle capital of Holland. Take your time in the afternoon and evening to enjoy this beautiful historical city, with its old market sauqre and weigh house, where cheese used to be weighed.

 

Day 6: Gouda - Oude Wetering, 25 - 54 km

In the morning you will spend some time in Gouda. Enjoy this beautiful historical city, the old market square and the Cheese Weighing House. A visit to the St. Johns church with it’s world-famous stained glass windows in on the program. Today’s cycling tour starts in Gouda and shows you the typical scenery of the so-called Green Heart of Holland with green landscapes, wide views, small canals and tiny lakes – all below sea level! The cycling tour leads via Leiden, the birthplace of famous painter Rembrandt and residence of the oldest university of the Netherlands. The short option ends in Alphen, the long option in Oude Wetering. Dinner, evening and night on board the ship in this small village.

Day 7: Oude Wetering - Amsterdam, approx. 29 km

This morning the ships starts sailing early to take you through Amsterdam. During the afternoon you either have the opportunity to make a last beautiful cycling tour through the wetlands of Waterland or to discover this amazing city. Visit the inner city flower market, a museum, do some shopping… there is just so much to do! In the evening you can join a boat tour through the beautiful canals of old Amsterdam (UNESCO cultural heritage). A wonderful way to conclude of your trip!

Check-out and disembarkation right after breakfast, before 9.30 a.m.

Modified Itinerary August 01 MAGNIFIQUE III (SAIL Amsterdam)

Due to a sailing event in Amsterdam, Sail Amsterdam 2020 this tour will not end in Amsterdam but in Wormerveer. You can take a train from Wormerveer that brings you back to Amsterdam in 15 minutes.

Day 1: Amsterdam | Amsterdam – Zaandam

Day 3: Hoorn – Volendam | Volendam – Marken (ferry) | Marken – Waterland – Muiden | Muiden – Vianen (39 km/24 mi. or 46 km/28 mi.)
While enjoying breakfast the ship will bring you to Volendam, a small, picturesque fishing harbor on the shores of Lake IJsselmeer. From here you’ll take a ferry to the former island of Marken. Explore this charming, authentic village before continuing your cycling journey along the coastline to IJburg, a new and modern part of Amsterdam that was recently built on land reclaimed from a lake (that was previously the sea). From here you’ll cycle to the historical town of Muiden with its 14th century waterfront castle. Today’s cycling tour ends near the village of Weesp, where you’ll rejoin your ship. Around 5pm the ship departs for Vianen and you can enjoy dinner while cruising. Spend the evening and night in Vianen, a small fortified town on the Lower Rhine river.

Day 6: Gouda – Leiden – Oude Wetering (33 km/21 mi. or 54 km/34 mi.)
Start the morning with a visit to Gouda’s St. John’s church, with its renowned stained-glass windows. Today’s cycling tour takes you from Gouda through the typical scenery of the Green Heart of Holland, with its green landscapes, expansive views, small canals and tiny lakes – all below sea level! Today’s long cycling option leads through Leiden, the birthplace of the famous painter Rembrandt and home of the oldest university in the Netherlands. The cycling journey ends in the small village of Oude Wetering, where the ship will be docked for the night.

Day 7: Oude Wetering – Amsterdam | Amsterdam – Wormerveer (28 km/18 mi.)
The ship sails early this morning to take you to Amsterdam. During the afternoon you can choose to take a last beautiful bike ride through the wetlands of Waterland north of Amsterdam, or to discover this amazing city on foot and by public transport. Visit the inner-city flower market, explore a museum or do some shopping… there’s so much to do! At the end of the afternoon the ship will be waiting for you in Wormerveer where you will enjoy the farewell dinner.

Day 8: Wormerveer
Enjoy a final breakfast on board before disembarking in Wormerveer by 9.30am.

Modified Itinerary August 08 MAGNIFIQUE III (SAIL Amsterdam)

Due to a sailing event in Amsterdam, Sail Amsterdam 2020 this tour will not start in Amsterdam but in Wormerveer. You can reach Wormerveer easily by train from Amsterdam. The tour will not end in Amsterdam, but in Oude Wetering. A transfer by bus to Schiphol (airport and train station) at 9.00 h on your departure day is included.

Day 1: Wormerveer

During the afternoon you can choose to take a last beautiful bike ride through the region south of Amsterdam or you can join your tour leader for a tour by public transport to the Sail Amsterdam 2020 event. Another option is to go on your own into Amsterdam to discover this amazing city. Visit the inner-city flower market, explore a museum or do some shopping… there’s so much to do! During dinner the Magnifique III will take you back for a quiet night in Oude Wetering.

Day 8: Oude Wetering
Enjoy a final breakfast on board before disembarking in Oude Wetering by 9.30am. At 9.00 h there is a free transport by bus to Schiphol airport and train station.

    We provide you with modern quality e-bikes with 7- or 8-speed hub gears and step-by-step selectable assistance for pedalling power. The range of the battery depends on the support level, riding style, body weight and terrain.

    IMPORTANT: book early, because of limited capacity!


    Bicycle breakdowns

    Breakdowns can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained. Flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair you may call the local representative. Please don’t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the tour operator/local representative and their approval.


    Bringing of own bikes

    Bringing your own bicycles is ony available in a limited number and a fee needs to be paid as there is not much space. Due to safety reasons you must not charge your E-Bike batteries in your cabin!

    If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew. Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes.

    Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike. The fees for parking of own bikes on board you can find under prices.

    Best of Holland

    The trip went very well despite all the forecast of rain. Only one day we were not able to ride so enjoyed a nice boat ride. The Dutch countryside is lovely.
