Accommodation quality varies and English language materials should be improved
The trip was overall a pleasure but would have been much better if the accommodations were of a consistent standard. Two of the accommodations were not satisfactory. St. Goar Landsnecht hotel claimed to have wifi but the tiny room that we had could not connect and we had a dirty towel upon arrival. When we returned the towel for a clean one, there was no effort to apologize. The staff here were not friendly and we felt as if we were an imposition on them rather than part of their business. The Zum Adler in Bad Godesberg was also poor. The room smelled, the carpet was filthy , the beds were lumpy, and the food terrible. The inconsistency of the hotels would prevent me from giving a unreserved recommendation to friends. I would have to warn friends that the hotels might not be satisfactory. In Bad Godesberg we tried to get a different room from the hotelier but we were not shown any alternative. Also the English language materials need to be improved. The separation of route information from sight seeing advice was not helpful. Given that English is the world’s top second language, the investment would be well worth it.
