Cycling the River Inn over 5 days
The river lacked scenery and interest, no boats, few other cyclists and long periods in woods. Away from large towns, it was hard to find refreshments near the trail. The hotels varied from poor, Rosenheim and Bad Fussing (Although the receptionist and the chef were very helpful in Rosenheim), to truly excellent Altotting, but the ride to Altotting was 100km, not 75 as we were told. Bikeline guides contain many minor errors; often the route signs on the trail varied from the guide and particularly the extent of unpaved surfaces were much more extensive. I would expect that the route description supplied would have made these differences clear, but the route description was generally unhelpful. It was tricky to find hotels as it was necessary to refer to the Bikeline guide for some information, the route description for some and our travel documents for the hotel details and all that sometimes in the rain. For the last 2 days we used the Bikeline guide to follow local minor roads through lovely countryside and nice villages, in order to avoid many km of rough stoney tracks.
