Relaxing ride on the Inn Valley
Taking the 10 day option was a smart move as it provides more time for side trips on the way or when you reach the next stop. Two of the hotels were poorly located. The Zillertal valley hotel (Gasthof Hotel Post) is located next door to a cattle barn so it stinks (no aircon so you need to open windows but too smelly), plus there is more to do in Jenbach so would be better to hotel there. Also the hotel at Kirchdorf was in the middle of nowhere, difficult to get to and few options for getting food etc except from the hotel. The local road is very busy and rather unpleasant / unsafe for cyclists. A better option would be to continue down to Braunau am Inn which is a more interesting location with more options for food etc. Taking the deviation to Alt Otting is well worthwhile so much to see and do here and a great scenic ride back to the main route. The spas in Bad Fussing are worth a visit, not quite the cooloff you want after cycling in 30C but a really nice relax. The Austria Trend Hotel in Innsbruck is magnificent and Innsbruck is worth several days to enjoy and explore. All accommodation was really good and the breakfasts excellent. Scenery is superb especially if you take a side trip by train to Chiemsee where the replica Palace of Versailles is located.
