Very fun bike adventure with Rad-Reisen.
My partner and I biked The Passau to Budapest route during the month of August 2019. We had an amazing time! Our favorite part was the route from Passau, Germany to Vienna as the bike paths were excellent and the views are breathtaking. The entire time we were on very well maintained bike paths. The route from Vienna to Budapest was fun but definitely not as nice nor safe as the first part as much of the bike paths were not well maintained or continuously safe. There were times where we had to cycle along traffic with large trucks going past fast. I would not recommend this to families with children.
My partner and I are in our late 50s and the level of physical difficulty was low and we had no problem except during two days of extreme heat when we chose to set out early to avoid the worse of the sun.
The hotels for the most part were very good. We selected the A category for accommodations and for the 14 nights we very much liked 8 of the hotels. The rest of the hotels had some issues such as location and comfort. We are thinking that this is because we had selected class A accommodations (which corresponds to 4 -star hotels) and in some of the locations it appears that there was only one 4 star hotel and that?s where we were placed. We would?ve been happier with a few 3 Star hotels if they were more conveniently situated.
Overall though we had a fantastic time. Our least favorite hotels were Hotel Pokol, Spitsberg and another one (I can?t remember the name) that was up a hill and and required a taxi to reach (the complimentary transfer is at a limited time and we didn?t make this).
We definitely recommend the Passau to Vienna Rad-Reisen tour to all!
