The Lake Constance Cycle Path runs mainly on cycle paths or on quiet side-streets, which are mostly asphalted. The major part of the route leads you in close proximity along the lake shore and is signed throughout.

Roundtrip 7 days

Day 1: Constance
Individual arrival. 

Day 2: Constance – Region Stein am Rhein, approx. 30-40 km 
The cycling tour leads you through picturesque places along the Untersee lake and into the medieval town Stein am Rhein. The Hohenklingen castle, dating back to the Middle Ages, is situated high above the town. Visit the Lindwurm museum before you arrive in Gailingen.

Day 3: Region Stein am Rhein – Region Überlinger See, approx. 50-70 km 
The cathedral of Radolfzell and the peninsula Mettnau, one of the biggest natural reserves at Lake Constance, are more highlights. Via Bodman-Ludwigshafen and Überlingen, you reach the monastery church of Birnau. In Unteruhldingen, a visit to the pile dwellings from the stone and bronze ages is recommended.

Day 4: Region Überlinger See – Region Friedrichshafen, approx. 25-30 km 
Meersburg, the city of museums, invites you back to the Middle Ages with its romantic corners. The seaway takes you to the zeppelin town Friedrichshafen, where you should absolutely pay a visit to the zeppelin museum.

Day 5: Region Friedrichshafen – Region Bregenz/Höchst, approx. 35-45 km 
Today you reach the Lake Constance metropolis Lindau, the border triangle between Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Pay a visit to the historic city and the lighthouses with the Löwenmole, the landmark of Lindau. You then arrive at the cultural stronghold Bregenz. Stroll through the old town or ride up to the 1064 metre high Pfänder (mountain) with a cable car. Enjoy the unique view over the lake. Through the natural reserve of the Rhine delta, the largest freshwater delta in Europe, you reach Höchst.

Day 6: Region Bregenz/Höchstt – Constance, approx. 55-65 km 
Through the Rhine delta, you continue to cycle to Switzerland. With little villages and huge friut farms, the Thurgau canton offers a great variety of diverse scenery. A dreamlike view of the Lake Constance and the impressive pre-Alps accompany you to Constance. You can shorten the route from Romanshorn to Constance by 21 km with a train ride (on one’s own).

Day 7: Constance/Kreuzlingen

Day 1: Constance

Day 2: Constance - Stein am Rhein region, approx. 40 km
In the picturesque town of Gottlieben you cross the border and on the Swiss side you arrive in the beautiful town of Stein am Rhein. The charm of this medieval town will immediately captivate you. Take time for a visit to the Lindwurm Museum. An impressive drive along the High Rhine leads you to Gailingen. A highlight is the Rhine crossing from Diessenhofen to Gailingen with the historic wooden bridge from 1816.

Day 3: Stein am Rhein region - Rhine Falls - Stein am Rhein region, approx. 35 km
Immerse yourself today in the magic of the Munot town of Schaffhausen. A unique town with medieval facades, magnificent 171 oriels and the winding alleys. The Rhine Cycle Path will then take you to the next highlight. Do not miss the impressive natural phenomenon of the Rhine Falls. At 23 meters high and 150 meters wide, it is one of the largest waterfalls in Europe.

Day 4: Stein am Rhein region - Bodman/ Radolfzell region, approx. 35-50 km
The peninsula "Höri" is located between Stein am Rhein and Radolfzell and numerous artists such as Otto Dix, Hermann Hesse, Helmuth Macke have also given it the name artist landscape. The Hesse Museum in Gaienhofen, the Hermann Hesse Haus and the Museum Haus Dix pay tribute to the once famous inhabitants. End the day with a stroll through the old town of Radolfzell. The fishing village of Radolfzell enchants with its charming flair and the unique view of the Untersee.

Day 5: Bodman/ Radolfzell region - Friedrichshafen region, approx. 40-55 km
Pass the picturesque Sipplingen and the monastery church Birnau. In Unteruhldingen we recommend a visit to the pile-dwelling museum. Meersburg, the museum town invites you with its romantic corners to the Middle Ages. The sea route leads you through wine and fruit cultures to Friedrichshafen with the Zeppelin Museum.

Day 6: Friedrichshafen region - Bregenz/Höchst, approx. 35-45 km
Today you reach the Lake Constance metropolis Lindau, the border triangle between Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Visit the old town and the lighthouses with the lion’s pier, Lindau’s landmark. Afterwards, you will arrive in the cultural stronghold of Bregenz. Stroll through the old town or take the cable car to the 1064 m high P fänder and enjoy the unique view of Lake Constance. Through the nature reserve of the Rhine Delta, the largest freshwater delta in Europe, you will reach Höchst.

Day 7: Bregenz/Höchst - Constance, approx. 55-65 km
You cycle through the Rhine delta into Switzerland. Scenically, the canton of Thurgau offers plenty of variety with its small villages and huge orchards. A dreamlike view of Lake Constance and the impressive foothills of the Alps accompany you
to Constance. At the Sea Life Center you will dive into the fascinating underwater world and discover the jungle and the rainforest. You can shorten the route by 21 km with a train ride from Romanshorn to Constance (on your own).

Day 8: Constance
Individual departure or extension of your vacation at Lake Constance.

Individual arrival. 

Day 2: Constance - Region Stein am rhein, approx. 30-40 km
Through picturesque fishermen’s villages, along the Untersee lake, you reach the medieval city Stein am Rhein. High above the town lies the Hohenklingen castle, dating back to the Middle Ages. Pay a visit to the Lindwurm museum, before continuing to cycle to Gailingen, the pearl of the High Rhine.

Day 3: Region Stein am Rhein - Radolfzell, approx 20-35 km
In the morning, you have time for a stroll through the city, before you arrive at the fishermen’s village Radolfzell. The town enchants you with its charming atmosphere and a unique view of the Untersee lake.

Day 4: Radolfzell - Region Überlinger See, approx. 25-35 km
The appealing city Bodman decoys with its castle grounds. Pass the picturesque town Sipplingen and the monastery church of Birnau. In Unteruhldingen, a visit to the pile dwelling museum is recommended.

Day 5: Region Überlinger See  Region Friedrichshafen, approx. 25-45 km
Meersburg, the city of museums, invites you back to the Middle Ages with its romantic corners. Your way leads you through wine and fruit cultures to Friedrichshafen with its zeppelin museum, which you should absolutely pay a visit.

Day 6: Region Friedrichshafen - Region Bregenz/Höchst, approx. 30-45 km
You reach the Lake Constance metropolis Lindau through the natural reserve Eriskircher Ried. Pay a visit to the historic town and the lighthouses with the Löwenmole, the landmark of Lindau. In Bregenz, you should enjoy the beautiful view on the Pfänder (mountain) after riding up with a cable car.

Day 7: Region Bregenz/Höchst - Swiss shore, approx. 20-35 km
You reach Switzerland through the natural reserve of the Rhine delta and continue cycling to the city Rorschach with its beautiful "Kornhaus" (museum). Fruit and berry cultures still dominate this region

Day 8: Swiss shore - Constance, approx. 35-40 km
The last day belongs to the alpine upland of the Thurgau. The lakeshore invites you to relax, before you cycle back to Constance.

Arrival - Parking - Departure

Arrival by plane

Airport: Friedrichshafen (FDH), Zürich (ZRH)

Zurich is the closest large airport and direct flights from Europe and Overseas are available. The Zurich airport has its own railway stop. Trains run frequently between Konstanz and Zurich (airport and city). It’s about 1 hour between the airport and Konstanz. Alternatively, you can fly into Friedrichshafen and take a 40 mins ferry across the lake.


Arrival by car

Parking at our company area: We are pleased to inform you, that you can park your car for the duration of the bicycle tour on our company area at a flat fee of € 60,- per car (to be paid in cash on site). The number of parking spaces is limited and it is not guarded. 

Parking at the arrival hotels: The hotels have partially parking spaces directly at the building for fees of approx. € 10,- per night or in the proximity (free public parking or chargeable parking garages). For further information, you can contact the respective arrival hotel after receiving your hotel list.


Arrival by train

Train station: Constance

Depending on the hotel you are staying at in Constance, you can either get off at the Konstanz-Petershausen station or ride one station further to the main train station. You can take a taxi or the bus to the booked hotel. The connection information (route network map for downloading) of the bus routes can be found >>here

Triples/quadruples: Please note that triples/quadruples can only be booked for max. 2 adults. Triples/quadruples often are double rooms with extra beds (which might be folding or sofa beds).
