Radeln Richtung Horten Fascinating and impressive are the Lofoten Islands, which are located far north of the Arctic Circle off the Norwegian coast.

Here you will find rugged mountain landscapes and white sandy beaches, cliffs surrounded by spray, pastures and idyllic fishing villages.

Omnipresent in the untouched nature are the red fishermen’s huts (Rorbuer) and the many wooden racks on which the dried cod is hanging to dry in summer.

 

Route

Tour profile / level 2

Mainly small roads, bike paths or good nature roads. Slight slopes, mostly along the coast.

Day 1: Bodø – Svolvær + speedboat

Speedboat ride from Bodø to Svolvær, the largest city in Lofoten. In Bodø you will already get your rental bikes. Your luggage will be picked up from the ferry in Svolvær.

Day 2: Svolvær – Melbu, approx. 65 km

You ride today through breathtaking landscapes along the west coast of the island Austvågøya to Fiskebøl. Ferry crossing to Melbu.

Day 3: Melbu – Stokmarknes – Svolvær, approx. 20 km + Hurtigruten

From Melbu we continue on the beautiful west coast to Stokmarknes. On the way you can visit the "Uværshula" (bad weather cave). In Stokkmarknes we recommend you to visit the Hurtigruten Museum. In the afternoon, ferry ride back to Svolvær.

Day 4: Svolvær – Henningsvær, approx. 24 km

Short leg from Svolvær via Kabelvåg to Henningsvær. There is plenty of time to explore the capital of Lofoten and Henningsvær, or spend either the morning in Svolvær or the afternoon in Henningsvær. A hike up to a summit near Svolvær is also recommended - you will be rewarded with a fascinating view.

Day 5: Henningsvær – Stamsund, approx. 51-80 km

Over bridges you leave the village Henningsvær and cycle on a beautiful, almost traffic-free coastal road to Stamsund.

Day 6: Stamsund – Ramberg, approx. 55-70 km

Accompanied by fantastic views you drive along the coast to Leknes and from there on to Ramberg with its wonderful, white sandy beach. On the way you have the opportunity to visit the Dragon Church at Gravdal and the UNESCO World Heritage village Nusfjord

Day 7: Ramberg – Reine, approx. 25-42 km

Today it is only a short stage to Reine, where the landscape shows its most spectacular side. Use the afternoon to explore the fishing village or cycle to the southern tip of the archipelago in Å i Lofoten, where the Fisheries Museum is worth a visit.

Day 8: Reine – Moskenes – Bodø, approx. 6 km + ferry ride

Enjoy another morning in this dream landscape. Take a combined cycling and hiking tour to the bird cliffs in the west or hike in the surroundings of Å i Lofoten (excl.). In the afternoon you take the ferry back to Bodø, including rental bikes and your luggage

    Rental Bikes and Equipment (pre-reservation and supplement)

    You can choose between 21-speed trekking bikes (women- or menframe) or E-bikes, each bike equipped with a saddle bag.

    E-bikes

    With an e-bike every bike tour is a breeze! If you had few opportunities to cycle over the last weeks or if you are not sure concerning your fitness, but also with physical disabilities, every bike ride is a treat! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern e-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.

    Bringing of own bikes

    We do not suggest to bring Your own bikes.

    A note to our customers: Electric bikes are a great thing! However, due to their characteristics (high weight + high speed) they should only be booked by very experienced and safe cyclists with a good sense of balance. E-bikes are not appropriate for persons who do not ride bikes frequently.

    Airport:  Bodø (BOO)

    we recommend to fly via Oslo Lufthavan (OSL)

    From the ariport to the speedboat: Taxi 4,5 km.

    ARRIVAL BY CAR

    The arrival, - and departure from Germany is very far we would recommend to arrive by plane.

    Parking in Bodø: public parking at the ferry harbour. No reservation needed.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Tourist tax- to be paid locally. We do not recommend using your own bike. Single rooms are not bookable on this tour

    Accommodation:

    We try to avoid it, but it can happen that 2 Rorbuer have to share a shower / toilette. For overnight stays in the fish huts, breakfast is not included and must be taken care of individually.
