Structures with international importance like the Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera shape this town full of art, music and theatre. Nevertheless it is worth it to cross the citiy´s borders sometimes for trips into the surrounding region. You cycle through romantic river valleys, see grand palaces, castles and attractive old towns. In the evening you always return to Dresden.

Route

Tour profile

You cycle in a flat to undulating countryside. On Elbe cycle path free of traffic along one of the most beautiful rivers of Germany. Other parts follow minor roads and country lanes through varied river scenery.

Day 1: Dresden

Individual arrival in Dresden. You receive your bike (if booked) and important information about your cycle tour in the late afternoon. Use your spare time afterwards to go for a stroll through the old town of Dresden (included dinner).

Day 2: Pirna, approx. 50 km

Alongside the Elbe and via castle Pillnitz the cycle path leads you to Pirna. Attractions are the old town with the market place and the St. Mary’s Church. The Canaletto house in town is dedicated to the painter Canaletto. Every Monday you can take part in a guided city tour. (starting at 2 p.m.)

Day 3: Radebeul and Moritzburg, approx. 45 km

Serpentine paths through romantic valleys lead you to Karl May town Radebeul. From here the Lößnitz valley train takes you to Moritzburg, where you can visit the famous moated castle. Through the protected landscape Friedewald and the Moritzburger pond area you cycle back to Dresden.

Day 4: Dresden

Start the day with a city tour, which will show you many sights of Dresden. The afternoon is dedicated to the wines of the region. A local vintner offers some good wines during a wine tasting.

Day 5: Meißen, approx. 25 km

On the Elbe cycle path you reach Meißen. In addition to the porcelain manufactury the cathedral of Meißen and Albrechts castle are worth seeing. This castle is said to be the first castle of Germany. A ship takes you back to Dresden in the afternoon.

Day 6: Trip to Saxon Switzerland with railway, approx. 20-40 km

At the bastion you can enjoy the amazing view at the river "Elbe". You can also conquer the "Festung Königstein" with the wonderful panoramic view or you visit the "Edmundsklamm".
You also can make a short tour in the famous nationalpark.

Bicycles inclusive panniers

7-speed bikes with Shimano NEXUS hub gear OR 21-speed bikes with Shimano ALIVIO chain circuit with light, luggage rack, fenders, service set with tool and spare hose, air pump and number lock.

30-speed bikes PLUS: ideal for sporty cyclists and those who love a lot of comfort. The wheels have a comfortable gel saddle and a 30-speed gear for more accurate, faster shifting. Other highlights include the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for improved braking performance and particularly gentle suspension.

All bikes are equipped with a rear rack pannier (saddle bag) and a handlebar bag/per room.

E-bikes | Electric bikes | Pedelecs

By popular demand, we have now invested in a considerable number of e-bikes, much favoured by cyclists who love the great Outdoors, but prefer to let the bike take the strain. With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times. Acclivity can be handled easily.

Private bicycles

You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. This is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, spare tube and lock. Please check all functions of your bicycle carefully upon arrival.
