It is the only wind powered paper mill in the world. From here you are cycling to the museum’s village “Zaanse Schans”, an open-air museum (entrance fee not included) which was built to show the Dutch historical heritage. You can visit an ancient Dutch village, a cheese manufacture, a shipyard, a Dutch wooden shoe manufacture, a museum of bakery, the Zaanse watch museum and the unique colour mill, De Kat. Connected with the exhibition terrain is the Zaans museum, which gives an insight into the development of the “Zaanstreeks” as the first industrial area. Products like mustard, cheese, pastries, etc. are produced there and can be bought. You are cycling back to Zaandam through the recreational area of Twiske. Around 5 pm boad ride to Utrecht.

Day 3: Utrecht - Gouda, approx. 40 km

In the morning shipping to Utrecht. From Utrecht, cycle leisurely to the city of Gouda, which is famous for its cheese. You may take a de-tour to Kasteel de Haar, the largest castle of the Netherlands with its beautiful garden or you may take a refreshing bath in the lake Reeuwijkse Plassen.Tip: During the tulip-flowering season (departures March 28th to May 2nd) we offer an optional day excursion to Keukenhof by coach, transfers and entrance fee included (only bookable in advance). In the morning you are cycling to Leiden city centre. From there you are going by bike to the beach of Katwijk at the North Sea, back over the dunes and further on to Alphen aan den Rijn. You can either ship or cycle from here to Gouda, the "City of Cheese" (cycle tour to Gouda approx. 70 km).

Day 4: Gouda - Rotterdam - Delft - Den Haag - Scheveningen, approx. 35 - 85 km

Prior to breakfast, MV SIR WINSTON leaves Gouda for Rotterdam. Here you have two options for today’s cycling tour: First one will lead you to Delft (Tip: visit of the porcelain manufacture), second directly to the governmental seat Den Haag and to the North Sea coastal town and health resort Scheveningen and back. Alternatively, you can also go back to Rotterdam by train (rail and bike is not included; Costs per person approx. € 15, not at rush hour between 4:30 and 6 pm). Tip: you should experience the harbour of Rotterdam on an interesting harbour tour (optional).

Day 5: Rotterdam - Schoonhoven, approx. 43 km

You are cycling from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk (UNESCO World’s Cultural Heritage with 19 windmills in a row) and further to Schoonhoven, known for its silver-making and its enchanting old-town.

Day 6: Schoonhoven - Utrecht, approx. 40 km

Today you are cycling through the beautiful landscape of Polderland to Oudewater (witch’s scales) and further on to Utrecht. The Utrecht Dome is one of the most important ones in the Netherlands.

Day 7: Utrecht -  Amsterdam, approx. 50 km

Your cycle tour takes you along the small and winding river Vecht through beautiful landscapes. The river Vecht is also known as the “Loire of the Netherlands”. Touring bikes

Our bikes are state-of-the-art quality bikes based on proven brand quality of the bicycle manufactory Velo de Ville. All Velo de Ville bikes use only braking systems from renowned manufacturers such as Magura or Shimano. Minimum body height for our rental bikes: 1.50 m

The following rental bikes (including pannier) are available for you:

    • 7-speed UNISEX touring bikes
    • 8-speed E-bikes

    E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedeclecs

We provide you with modern quality e-bikes (pedelecs) with Nexus 8-speed hub gears, gradually selectable aid of pedaling power, puncture-proof tires and deep UNISEX comfort entry. The electric bikes from Velo de Ville are equipped exclusively with Bosch mid-mounted motors and fully integrated 500 Wh Bosch batteries. The design of the batteries allows them to almost disappear into the frame. This gives you better weight distribution and a low center of gravity without missing the convenience of easy entry. You save your battery by starting with as low a support as possible and increasing as needed. Please note that with the newer models of our e-bikes it is not possible to attach handlebar bags due to the additional fixed speedometers and wider handlebars.

IMPORTANT: Please reserve ebikes early, as they are only available in very limited numbers.

    Breakdowns

Bicycle breakdowns can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained, flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair, you may call the local representative. Please don´t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the touroperator/local representative and their approval.

    Own Bikes

If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew. Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes. Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike.

    Very good trip

The only complaint I have is that the air conditioning in the cabin did not operate properly. Everything else was excellent, both on the boat and the crew.
