Pearls of Southern Dalmatia by Bike + Boat

from/to Trogir

Itinerary

Route

Bike tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper climbs up to approx. 400-700 meters in altitude. Steeper or longer climbs must also be mastered. The tour requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally on gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists who are used to longer daily stages.

Arrival is individual. After checking in on your motor yacht between 1 pm and 1:30 pm, the first cruise begins at around 2 pm, taking you from Trogir to the island of Šolta. After a long day of traveling, you can enjoy your first swim in the Adriatic Sea.

This morning we enjoy a cruise during breakfast to the Island of Vis. Vis is the furthermost inhabited island from mainland Croatia. A Greek colony called Issa inhabited the island 2,300 years ago. Due to its strategic location it was a military zone until 1995 and prohibited for foreign tourists. Today we have the opportunity to explore the lovely island by bicycle. We have plenty of time to enjoy the island and spend the night here.

In the morning we leave the island of Vis by boat and navigate to the harbor town of Vela Luka on the Island of Korčula. Along the way we throw the anchor for a refreshing swim stop. Korčula is regarded as one of the most scenic islands in the Adriatic, abundant in scenic impressions and quaint villages nestled in the green. Once we arrive in Vela Luka we can enjoy a round tour from Vela Luka to the village of Blato and back again. The night is spent in Vela Luka.

The day starts with a relaxing cruise to Hvar town on Hvar Island. Make use of the time before the cycle tour starts and go for a little stroll through the city. Standing on the magnificent Renaissance Square you can enjoy a view up to the Spanish fortress towering high above the city. Today’s bike tour takes us from the city of Hvar through small villages and lavender fields to Stari Grad on the opposite side of the island. The descent to Stari Grad offers breathtaking views. After a lunch break we continue start off on a second cycling tour through the green planes of the island to the seaside town of Jelsa. After a break for coffee and ice cream, we continue the round trip back to Stari Grad where we spend the night.

In the morning we cruise to the island of Brač, famous for its radiant, precious limestone that was, among others, used for the White House in Washington and in the construction of the German Reichstag building in Berlin. Once we have arrived on Brač, we start our bike tour from Milna to the picturesque harbor town of Postira. At first we cycle inland through small villages and past local architectural relics before hugging the coast with spectacular views across the channel to the mainland. On arrival in Postira there are many ways in which to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The night is spent in the quiet harbor of Postira.

During breakfast, you will cross over to Omiš by boat. Today, you can choose between a bike tour or a rafting adventure on the Cetina River. If you opt for the bike tour, you will first follow the course of the Cetina River, which has carved its way deep into the rocks. Later, you will return to Omiš with its pirate castles via small side roads and through varied landscapes.

If you opt for the rafting tour, a transfer bus will pick you up from the ship. The rafting tour (not included in the tour price) is a special nature experience and takes place with trained instructors. After this adventure, the transfer will take you back to the ship and across to Split.

In the morning, we enjoy our last crossing to Trogir. From here, we ride our bikes over the local bridge to the island of Čiovo, where our last bike tour takes place. Čiovo is an island covered in flowers, and the aromatic scent of wild herbs is everywhere in the air. We take a short break at the local beach for a swim or a coffee before heading back to Trogir. Once there, there is plenty of time to enjoy the World Heritage city of Trogir and its many alleys and cafés before ending a fantastic week of cycling in Dalmatia with a farewell dinner on board.

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Dalmatia/Croatia.

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. Should it be the case for example that the harbors on the above mentioned tour sequence are overcrowded, the tour will be operated in reverse.

Ship

Welcome aboard the SAN SNOVA!

Facilities

The MS San Snova is a wooden motor-sailer that was launched in spring 2009 and made exclusively for Islandhopping cruises. The ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built in three years by the Scherka family in their own carpentry workshop as family project. The ship, 100 ft./31 m long and 26 ft./8 m wide, meets the highest expectations in regard to comfort, elegance and style, combining romantic seafaring with modernity and functionalism. Young captain Tonci prides himself in the meticulous appearance of the ship and the cordiality on board.

The roomy sun deck offers comfortable mats for relaxing and lounge chairs are found on the afterdeck. So let yourself be pampered and enjoy the “Dream of Dreams” (San Snova), as the Scherka family named their ship!

Cabins

The San Snova has five double cabins (with double beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 5,2 ft./160 cm) and five triple cabins above deck (with double beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 5,2 ft./160 cm and single bunk beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 2,6 ft./80 cm) as well as four spacious triple cabins below deck. Two of these triple cabins can also be used as quadruple cabins by adding a camp bed. The fittings of the cabins as well as the saloon and the outside area are of superior quality with many carefully created details.

Catering

The cook that travels along is a member of the crew and prepares breakfast and one or two warm dishes a day. Catering includes 2 x full board and 5 x half board and starts with dinner on embarkation day and ends with breakfast on disembarkation day.

Airport: Split (SPU), Zadar (ZAD), Dubrovnik (DBV)

Train station: Rijeka
If you have a lot of time and do not want to fly, there is also the possibility to travel by train to Rijeka and then by ferry to Split. However, from Munich you will need at least 24 hours to get to Trogir.
