Itinerary

Route

Tour profile / Level 1 - 2

The landscape is moslty flat, only few parts are slightly hilly. The tours are between 40 and 70 km a day.

Day 1: Rostock

Individual arrival to Rostock

Day 2: Rostock – Nykøbing/Falster, approx. 42 km + ferry

During the morning, you cycle to the seaport of Rostock, where you take the Scandlines ferry (included, duration approx. 2 hours) to the island of Falster. From Gedser you cycle to your overnight stay in Nykøbing. There are several small museums, artisans and galleries to admire along the way.

Day 3: Nykøbing/Falster – Næstved, approx. 76 km

Today’s route takes you along the Guldborg Sound to the island of Zealand. Today’s stage destination is one of the oldest towns in the country: Næstved. A detour to Gavnø Castle, including the magnificent castle garden, is definitely worthwhile!

Day 4: Næstved – Sorø/Ringsted surroundings, approx. 63 km

Today’s stage takes you northwest through the landscape around the Great Belt. Accompanied by dune landscapes and picturesque beaches, you cycle to the fishing village of Karrebæksminde. Enjoy the flair of the cozy cafés or pay a visit to the fishing museum before you cycle inland to today’s stage destination.

Day 5: Sorø/Ringsted – Roskilde, approx. 45 - 63 km

Today you cycle from Sorø/Ringsted to the coastal landscapes and fjords near Roskilde. The first stop is the Iseljord before you cycle on to the Roskildefjord. Roskilde Cathedral is the burial place of many Danish kings. Following in the footsteps of the Vikings, you can row and sail across the fjord from the harbor in replicas of the old Viking ships.

Day 6: Roskilde – Copenhagen, ca. 44 km

Your last stage takes you a short distance to the Danish capital Copenhagen. Perhaps you would like to reflect on your Great Zealand Round Trip in a cozy café in the city centre in the afternoon with Wienerbröd and a cup of coffee?

Day 7: Copenhagen

Today belongs to Copenhagen and its sights. Discover the Danish capital by bike, which is certainly the number one means of transportation here - the city has an excellent network of cycle paths. If you don’t want to cycle, take a stroll to Nyhavn to the Little Mermaid and walk along the Stroget shopping street or visit the legendary Tivoli amusement park.
