Cycling Slovenia from capital to coast
Our experience with the Emerald Tour of Slovenia was overall very good. The route was beautiful and the sights along the way well paced and impressive. Our guide was perfect: knowledgeable, rode at a good pace for everyone in the group, suggested (and booked) excellent restaurants for our lunches and dinners (not included in tour price), always making sure that everyone was riding comfortably and was well cared for. The only quibbles: it was not clear from the description & contact with RR that this would be a fully guided tour. We expected more in the line of route books/maps and instructions. As it turned out, the group (just 8 in total, plus guide & van driver) was wonderful and made the trip so much more than it might have been. The second quibble: the tour difficulty was rated 1-2, when in actuality it was at least a solid 2 (or higher), with lots and lots of hills, gravel roads, and (where unavoidable) riding with traffic. In short, we loved the experience and would recommend this trip wholeheartedly.
