Inn Cycle tour and Passau to Vienna Anniversary tour
Overall the tours were very good and most of the accommodation was good. However there were a few issues:
1. Some of the GPX directions were not good eg. directions to IBB Hotel Passau were a lot longer and steeper than the more direct way straight up Neuburger Strasse; directions to hotel in Angern (Krems) were incorrect and took us up a very steep walkway instead of to the front door, and we had to use Google Maps for directions. It appeared that the GPX files had not actually been ridden by anyone.
2. Some of the hotels were in towns which were very dead eg. Baumgarten (even though the hotel was nice), Ardagger, Sarling and Angern, or a long way from town eg. Linz.
3. There was no information about the Mathausen Memorial in the book even though we rode through the town. We only found out about it afterwards. I think this is a very important site and it should have been included in the guide. Also, this was a short riding day so there would have been plenty of time for a visit, and there was nothing open in the town of Ardagger when we got there.
4. The farm accommodation in Sarling was nice, but the cost of the meal (15 Euro per head) was overpriced. All we got were a few slices of pizza (we thought the pizza was just a starter) but that was it ... none of the farm produce that we were expecting, and there was nowhere else to go.
5. Where hotel rooms are more than 1 flight up, a lift should be required. Humping bags up 3 flights of stairs is not good eg. Rosenheim.
6. One of the bikes needed new brake pads. This should have been rectified before our trip. However, the bike place in Passau fixed it without any issue.
7. Some of the riding along the levies was not very pleasant (Inn Cycle). Maybe some alternate / optional routes could be provided.
8. The places for wine and schnapps should be included in the directions.
