Charms of Alsace (14.9.2024 - 21.09.2024)
1) The app was very helpful. However, we did not understand the route began at the Strasbourg rail station. It would have been very helpful if there was a better description of the route beginning and end points of each day as initially, this item was very confusing. In addition, if directions were provided from the assigned hotel to the start of the day?s ride, it would be very helpful.
2) At Selestat, the route from the city to the hotel (Auberge de I?lllwald) was unacceptable. The route was several kilometers of bike lane on a very busy highway. Members of our party were very afraid on this dangerous route. The tour was sold as "bike path" friendly, and this certainly was not, especially on the first day of the tour. While the hotel was very nice, there were other hotels in the city near the very nice tourist district that would have been more accessible and a pleasant experience.
3) The overnight stay in Barr was unacceptable. All other cities and towns were very wonderful. Barr appears to be a "dying" community, with little to offer travelers. The hotel(5 Terres) greeters in Barr treated us like criminals. They would not allow us to keep our bikes near the hotel during check in, and then offered no overnight parking. When pressed, they gave us directions to a secured parking lot and charged us for using it. This is not the service we paid for. The morning staff of the hotel was very nice and customer friendly. If we did the same tour and were assigned overnight accommodations in Barr, we would not do the trip. If we were assigned the same hotel in Barr, we would not do the trip.
4) The hotel and staff in Colmar (Hotel La Maison des Tetes) were wonderful
5) We enjoyed the bicycles and had no issues. Thank you for providing good equipment!
6) The individual that transported the luggage was very timely and pleasant. He did an excellent job!
