Experience the Côte d’Azur and Provence in a very special way: on a relaxing bike tour. Be enchanted by breathtaking coastal landscapes and endless dreamy beaches along the French Riviera, breathe in the scent of lavender and enjoy the taste of regional cuisine. Conquer the picturesque golden island of Porquerolles, explore medieval villages and visit castles and renowned wineries along the Route de Vins, where you can immerse yourself in the world of rosé wines and olive cultivation. Experience the Provençal way of life and enjoy culinary specialties on a visit to the regional markets and experience the art of fragrances up close in the picturesque perfume capital of Grasse. A cycle tour along the famous Promenade des Anglais in fashionable Nice will also enchant you.

Route

Tour profile / level 1-2

Easy and short cycling stages, all on asphalted cycle paths or side roads. Rarely contact with traffic. The daily cycle routes can be individually extended or abbreviated.

Day 1: Hyères-Plages

Individual arrival (airport Nice or Marseille, good train connection with the TGV to Toulon/Hyères). Your hotel is located in Hyères-Plage, close to the beach.

Day 2: Roundtrip to Hyères city or Pierrefeu, approx. 15 or 62 km

You visit the enchanting old town of Hyères. Along the Route de Vins, you cycle through the picturesque vineyards and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Visit one of the countless traditional wineries and castles of the Côte de Provence and taste delicious rosé wines or freshly pressed olive oil.

Day 3: Island Porquerolles, approx. 30 km

May we take you to paradise? Passing flamingo colonies, you cycle to the boat station and transfer to the dream island Porquerolles, (payable on site). The island is car-free, characterized by olive plantations, vineyards and romantic bays with white sandy beaches. Worth seeing are the Plage de Notre Dame, the fort and the Lighthouse.

Day 4: Roundtrip Le Lavandou, approx. 50 km

On well-developed cycle paths you cycle over the old salt works, past vineyards and olive groves - the sea within a few meters - to the fishing village Le Lavandou, at the foot of the Moorish massif. With a little perseverance or by e-bike, a detour to Bormes-les-Mimosas, famous for its panorama and the old town, is worthwhile.

Day 5: Train ride Hyères – Nice / Nice (day of rest)

Today you will not only change your hotel, your will find yourself in a whole new world. From the unspoilt coast you travel by train (included) to the capital of the Côte d’Azur. Nice awaits you with its old town, fashionable buildings and museums.

Day 6: Nice – day of rest or city sightseeing tour by bike, approx. 10 km (optional)

In the morning you have the opportunity to take part in an interesting city tour by bike (optional) or you can take the time to enjoy the city by bike. Explore Nice and its museums on your own. The Principality of Monaco is only 25 minutes away by train.

    Discover the beauty of Nice and its enchanting sights on a pleasant and relaxing cycle route. Our carefully selected route takes you along quiet cycle paths and low-traffic roads so that you can experience the city's highlights from the comfort of your bike saddle.

Day 7: Roundtrip to Antibes, approx. 40-50 km

The famous Promenade des Anglais takes you along the Mediterranean coast to Antibes. The small town of Greek origin is not only well known for its marina, but also for the Old Town and the Picasso Museum. Surround the Cap d’Antibes with its botanical garden, where the high society owns its holiday villas.

Day 8: Nice

At the end of your cycle trip you can stock up on Provençal specialties at the famous market Cours Saleya and drink a café au lait before you start your return journey. It is also a good idea to extend the trip - Nice and the surrounding area still have a lot to offer. The car rental prices on the Côte d’Azur are really low. Individual departure or extension.

    Bicycle

    Bicycles inclusive panniers

    You can choose between the following bikes with tyres in different frame dimensions for ladies and gents:

    • minimum 21-speed-bike with hand brakes
    • E-bikes unisex

    All bikes are equipped with a one-sided Ortlieb pannier (20 liters), a lock, repair kit and a rental helmet.

    Due to the change of hotels/cities during your trip please select your bike during the booking process for each town (Hyéres & Nice). The bicycle exchange makes the train journey also easier for you, because you only need to carry your suitcase.

    By popular demand, we have now invested in a considerable number of e-bikes, much favoured by cyclists who love the great Outdoors, but prefer to let the bike take the strain. With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ...  Acclivity can be handled easily.

    Bicycle breakdowns

    can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive a repair kit. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number!

    Private bicycles

    You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

    Arrival by plane

    Airport: Nice (NCE), Marseille (MRS)
    Direct TGV train connections between Nice city and Toulon (approx. 2 hours) or regional train with 1x change in Hyères city. Approx. 2 1/2 hours. Alternative from Marseille airport by bus and train to Hyères city which takes approx. 2 1/2 hours and you need to change the 2 times. Afterwards use a taxi to your hotel at Hyères plage.

    Arrival by car

    Nice: public parking garages approx. € 25,-/day; parking spaces directly at the hotel on request (advance reservation necessary, payable on site approx. € 30,-/day)
    Hyères Plages: free public parking spaces

When booking our rental bike disclaimer, we assume liability so that in case of loss or damage to the rental bike (when properly used and secured) no financial responsibility must be paid. Excluded from this are only lost keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes, as well as damage due to intent or gross negligence.
