You ride mostly on bike paths, farm roads and on dirt roads and have hardly any inclines to overcome. The quality of the Moselle Cycle Path is excellent. There are practically no unpaved or poorly passable stretches of road. The route runs almost exclusively on asphalt paths.

Route Cochem – Metz 8 days

Day 1: Cochem
Embarkation and check-in from 14:00. After welcoming you, the tour guide will take you on a walk through Cochem. Cochem is a cozy and characteristic Moselle town with steep vineyards, wooded hills and a picturesque town center with beautiful half-timbered houses. The program includes a visit to the Reichsburg, which towers above the town.

Day 2: Cochem - Zell, approx. 39 km
After breakfast you cycle to Beilstein. The ruins of Metternich Castle tower above the village and you will have the opportunity to explore them. After leaving Beilstein, you pass the steepest vineyard in Europe at Bremmer Calmont. Today’s tour ends in Zell an der Mosel, which is famous for its "Zeller Schwarze Katz" wine.

Day 3: Zell an der Mosel - Bernkastel-Kues, approx. 45 km
Today you cycle from Zell an der Mosel to Traben-Trarbach, known for its Art Nouveau style. From there you cycle through the wine town of Kröv to Bernkastel-Kues, your destination for the night. The large half-timbered houses surrounding the market square in Bernkastel-Kues date back to the Middle Ages and are a photographer’s delight. After a city tour, you will reach the ship in Kues.

Day 4: Bernkastel-Kues - Neumagen - Schweich - Trier, approx. 28-54 km
Today you pass Brauneberg, Piesport and Trittenheim. Piesport produces some good white wines such as the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen. Trittenheim lies on a sharp bend in the Moselle and is surrounded by sweeping vineyards. You will reach Neumagen in the morning or early afternoon. Here you have the option of disembarking or cycling on to Schweich. From Schweich you travel by boat to Trier, the oldest city in Germany and today a lively and interesting university town.

Day 5: Trier - Saarburg, approx. 28 km
The day begins with an exclusive guided tour of Trier. Afterwards you have time to explore the city on your own. After a relaxed lunch, you start your cycle tour along the picturesque banks of the Moselle and Saar rivers. Your destination is Saarburg, a charming town with medieval flair, surrounded by dense forests. Here you can admire the imposing Saarburg, the 20 m high waterfall and the old mill. The evening is at leisure: Explore the narrow streets with historic houses and enjoy the local gastronomy!

Day 6: Saarburg - Remich, approx. 45-53 km
There are two options today: The easier, but slightly longer tour leads along the banks of the river, while the more challenging route takes you through hilly landscapes. With both options, you cross the border into Luxembourg on the way and get to know the small country and its wine regions. You visit a winegrowers’ cooperative specializing in Cremant, which is also known as the Champagne of the Moselle. Near Remich, your destination today, you can visit a wonderful Roman mosaic floor - 3 million individual tiles depict images of a gladiatorial contest.

Day 7: Remich - Schengen - Thionville - Metz, approx. 30 km
During an enjoyable breakfast on board, you will sail from Remich to Schengen, the namesake of the Schengen Agreement. From there, you cycle through the picturesque Moselle valley to cross the border into France. Discover the impressive castle of Sierck-les-Bains before reaching the charming town of Thionville. Here you will disembark again and enjoy a relaxing cruise to Metz, a perfect end to your trip with its inviting pubs and historic architecture.

Day 8: Metz
End of the trip. Disembarkation after breakfast, by 09:30. Individual departure

Day 8: Sch engen - Metz
After breakfast, you will travel by coach to Metz. You check into your hotel there for the last night and can then explore the city on your own. In the afternoon, a guided tour of the city is on the program, during which you will visit the impressive cathedral, among other things. Dinner is not included in Metz - enjoy the cuisine in one of the great restaurants!

End of the trip. Check out after breakfast, by 09:30. Individual departure

Route Metz – Cochem 8 days

Day 1: Metz
Embarkation and check-in from 14:00 in Metz. After the welcome reception, you will have time to go on a trial tour by bike. After dinner, the tour guide will take you on a walk through Metz. Metz offers a lot of beautiful architecture, flora and pubs.

Day 2: Metz - Remich, approx. 41-49 km
During breakfast you will take the boat to Thionville. Today’s cycle tour begins outside Thionville. Among other things, you will pass the castle of Sierck-les-Bains, one of the palaces inhabited by the counts of Lorraine. You cycle through the beautiful Moselle valley to Schengen on the border between France and Luxembourg. In Nennig, near Remich, you can visit a wonderful Roman mosaic floor - 3 million individual tiles depict images of a gladiatorial contest.

Day 3: Remich - Saarburg, approx. 40-48 km
Your cycle tour starts on the German side of the Moselle and soon takes you over to Luxembourg. There you will visit a winegrowers’ cooperative that produces "Cremant", the champagne of the Moselle. You then have two routes to choose from: a relaxed ride along the river or a shorter, more challenging route through the hills. Your destination is Saarburg, a charming town with medieval flair. Visit the castle, the 20m high waterfall in the town center and the old mill. The historic houses from the 17th and 18th centuries give the town its picturesque charm.

Day 4: Saarburg - Trier, approx. 32 km
After breakfast, the tour guide will take you on a short bike tour to Trier, where you will arrive in the morning or early afternoon. After a guided walk, you will have time to discover Trier on your own. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and offers exciting historical sights. There is no dinner on board today. You can visit one of Trier’s restaurants.

Day 5: Trier - Schweig - Neumagen - Bernkastel-Kues, approx. 27-53 km
During breakfast, the ship sails to Schweig, where today’s cycle tour along the romantic Moselle begins. Passing Trittenheim, which lies in a sharp bend of the Moselle, the route continues to Piesport. Good white wines such as the ’Piesporter Goldtröpfchen’ are produced here. Once you arrive in Neumagen, you have the option of disembarking or cycling on to Bernkastel-Kues. Bernkastel is a lively historic town with the best wine region in the Middle Moselle. If you walk to the castle, you can enjoy a wonderful view.

Day 6: Bernkastel-Kues - Traben-Trarbach - Zell an der Mosel, approx. 45 km
Today’s cycle tour takes you to the romantic little town of Traben-Trarbach, which lies on the left bank of the Moselle and is known for its Art Nouveau architecture. You then continue along the Moselle to your destination for today, Zell an der Mosel. This town is known among wine connoisseurs for its "Zeller Schwarze Katz" wine. In Zell you have ample opportunity to get to know the good Moselle wines.

Day 7: Zell - Beilstein - Cochem, approx. 39 km
Beilstein is one of the best-preserved historic villages on the banks of the river and the highlight of today’s cycle tour. Here you have time to explore the mighty ruins of Metternich Castle, which tower high above the village. Then it’s on to the destination of your trip, the typical Moselle town of Cochem with its cozy wine taverns, an impressive castle and pretty half-timbered houses, surrounded by steep vineyards and wooded slopes. A perfect place for a glass of wine from the region. The program includes a visit to the Reichsburg.

Day 8: Cochem
End of the trip. Disembarkation after breakfast until 09:30. Individual departure

Route Metz – Cochem 9 days

Day 1: Metz
Check in at the hotel from 4 pm. Use the evening to explore the beautiful historic city and enjoy your dinner in one of the local restaurants. Marvel at St. Etienne Cathedral, the third largest Gothic church in France.

Day 2: Metz - Schengen
At 11:00 am you will start a city tour with a local guide. In the afternoon you collect your luggage and are taken by coach to Schengen, where your ship is already waiting for you. The crew welcomes you on board, you have the chance to take a short test ride on a bike and in the evening a sumptuous welcome dinner awaits you.

    We provide you with modern quality e-bikes with 7- or 8-speed hub gears and step-by-step selectable assistance for pedalling power. The range of the battery depends on the support level, riding style, body weight and terrain.

    IMPORTANT: book early, because of limited capacity!


    Bicycle breakdowns

    Breakdowns can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained. Flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair you may call the local representative. Please don’t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the tour operator/local representative and their approval.


    Bringing of own bikes

    Bringing your own bicycles is ony available in a limited number and a fee needs to be paid as there is not much space. Due to safety reasons you must not charge your E-Bike batteries in your cabin!

    If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew. Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes.

    Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike. The fees for parking of own bikes on board you can find under prices.
