The ship will dock at the end of the dam and from here sails through the remarkable port of Antwerp to the city. Antwerp is not only known as diamond city, but it is also where Rubens lived. You will find some of his paintings in the "Onze Lieve Vrouwe (our lady) Cathedral". (No dinner on board of Zwaantje and Fleur.)

      Day 4: Antwerp - Sint Amands/Dendermonde, approx. 34 - 61 km

Ghent, a lively university city, is your destination today. It is a place with an interesting history as it was founded in Roman times. Its convenient location at the confluence of the Leie and Schelde Rivers has brought it much by gone prosperity, culminating in the late 13th to early 14th centuries. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to discover the city some more, or to shop in the lively centre. The ship is docked at the lock in Merelbeke, a suburb of Ghent.

Your last bike tour starts just outside the city and passes through the pleasant countryside of Western Flanders to Bruges. • Rental-Bicycles & equipment

Our ship owned bikes to rent are most modern

      • UNISEX-touring/trekking bicycles with a comfortable, deep entrance and
      • 7-speed-hub circuit with hand pedal brake, as well as paniers.
      • other bikes: children’s bike, tandem, children’s seat, bikes with back pedal... on request

      Electric bikes | E-Bikes | Pedelecs

On some barges we offer modern quality-electrically assisted bikes (Pedelecs) with 7 or 8-gear-hub circuit, gradual selectable help of pedaling power and deep UNISEX-comfot-entrance. The bikes are equipped with a powerful Panasonic or Bosch-Pedelec-Engine and a powerful Lithium-Ion-Battery, one battery-charge is sufficient for up to 65 kilometers. The range of the battery is depending on supportlevel, riding manners, body weight and terrain. In a more hilly terrain or with a higher bodyweight there is more batterycapacity used then in flat areas or with a low bodyweight. You can save battery, when you start with most possible low support and increase only if needed. The batteries are supposed to be charged overnight with the provided battery charger.

IMPORTANT: book early, because of limited capacity!

A note to our customers: Electric bikes are a great thing! However, due to their characteristics (high weight + high speed) they should only be booked by very experienced and safe cyclists with a good sense of balance. E-bikes are not appropriate for persons who do not ride bikes frequently.

      Bicycle breakdowns
can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained. Flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair you may call the local representative. Please don’t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the tour operator/local representative and their approval.

      Bringing of own bikes

If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew.

Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes. Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike. The fees for parking of own bikes on board you can find under prices.

In the Netherlands it is not mandatory to wear a helmet.

      GREAT WAY TO SEE EUROPE

We are both around seventy and reasonably fit, we don?t partake in anything hectic sport but are good walkers. We were both slightly apprehensive about cycling 50 - 60 km p/day and so swapped to ebikes. With high insight we may have been alright on conventional ...

      From Amsterdam to Brugge

We had a great time. Brugge was spectacular. Our guides were great. Food and service on the Fluvius were excellent. Our only complaint was we could have used more breaks on the bike ride for photos, etc. We look forward to our next trip.
