Munich Lakes 7 days

Tradition, Idyll and Metropolitan Flair

Itinerary

Route

You cycle on well-marked and paved cycle paths (Isar-, Lake Constance-Königssee- and Via Bavarica Tyrolensis-cycle paths) as well as on quiet side roads (only on short sectors on main roads) and a few unpaved but well drivable distances. A few short climbs can be overcome easily sliding.
Individual arrival in the Bavarian capital, which lure visitors from around the world with many attractions. Especially worth seeing is the English garden with its Chinese tower, the church Frauenkirche, the Nymphenburg Palace and the square Marienplatz. Let’s visit one of the many Bavarian beer gardens and enjoy the hospitality and the Bavarian flair while drinking a beer in a 1l-mug (so called “Maß”).

Your first bike stage takes you south west of Munich via the lakes Weßlinger and Pilsensee to lake Ammersee, the third largest lake in Bavaria. Allow yourselves a little break in Herrsching to enjoy the fantastic view over the lake. Past the Abbey Andechs you reach Lake Starnberg. For those who would like to start the trip more comfortable can cycle directly to Lake Starnberg.

Cycle along the eastern side of Lake Starnberg to Berg. At the Votivkirche church near Berg Castle, there is a cross commemorating the place where Bavaria’s King Ludwig II died. Just before Seeshaupt, a cozy beer garden with a beautiful beach is the perfect place to take a break. Murnau am Staffelsee and Seehausen are the heart of the Blue Land. Here you can enjoy the beauty of Bavaria’s lakes and mountains to the fullest.

In the Isarwinkel region, turquoise rivers and lakes reminiscent of the Caribbean await you. This picturesque area with its mysterious moorlands inspired the famous artist Franc Marc, who captured his impressions in paintings. Enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Kochel before greeting the onion domes of the Benediktbeuern Basilica from afar. The Isar town of Bad Tölz enchants visitors with its historic buildings and market street.

Enjoy the picturesque landscape of rolling hills and moorlands on a short bike ride to Lake Tegernsee. The Tegernsee Lake Trail is approximately 20 km long and is one of the most beautiful lake trails in Bavaria. Be sure to stop off at the Bräustüberl in Tegernsee, where Benedictine monks built the monastery and brewery 1,260 years ago.

You cycle through the picturesque Mangfall Valley, where gravel banks and blue-green pools invite you to take a refreshing dip. A detour to Reisach Castle is highly recommended. It is one of the most unusual structures used for Munich’s water supply. You reach Munich via quiet, shady forest paths in the Hofoldinger Forest. Immerse yourself in the individual districts and discover the charm of every corner and alleyway.

Following bikes are available:

  • Unisex bike with Nuvinci transmission
  • E-Bikes

The NuVinci CVT special gear system (correspond to a 27 speed bike) uses a set of rotating balls and also tilting balls in a transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies the speed ratio. As a result, the NuVinci CVT system offers seamless and continuous transition to any ratio within its range.

The offered bikes are touring bikes with an aluminium frame and kitted with responsive brakes and gears. Plus: comfort gel saddles, flat-palmed grips, Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tyres. All bikes are equipped with a pannier (saddle bag) and a handlebar bag/per room.

E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedelecs

With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! If you had few opportunities to cycle over the last weeks or if you are not sure concerning your fitness, but also with physical disabilities, every bike ride is a treat! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.
