Piedmont - Centre-Based Tour

Delights and nature in the heart of northern Italy

Itinerary

Route

Tour profile / Level 2

The day tours run on mostly flat to hilly, largely asphalted paths. There are one or two short climbs to be mastered daily.

Day 1: Romano Canavese

Individual arrival - You have time to explore the beautiful Romano Canavese by yourself.

Day 2: Lake Candia, approx. 40 km

The first cycling excursion leads on beautiful paths first southwards along the river Dora Baltea. Soon we reach the beautifully situated Candia Lake. Wonderful bathing opportunities tempt you to cool off in the clear water. A long climb (4 km) takes you to the top of the moraine hills and offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Along the royal wine road you return to your accommodation.

Day 3: Ivrea and its lakes, approx. 50 km

Today’s stage leads through meadows and fields to Ivrea. The Dora Baltea river has dug deep into its riverbed here and thus offers spectacular views. After a short rest in the medieval town centre, the route continues to two mountain lakes in the immediate vicinity. Romantically situated, the lakes invite you to take a dip. The route leads back along the old Franciscan path, which was an important pilgrimage axis to Rome for the monks.

Day 4: Turin and the Po River, approx. 60 km

In the morning, we take the train to the capital Turin. Here, not only the large Piazza Vittorio Veneto is impressive - there is much to discover in this lively city. A beautiful cycle path along the Po leads back north. On the way back, you should not miss Chiavasso. The small town on the Po conveys the Italian way of life with its street cafés. On the way back, the route passes Castello Mazze. The valley was guarded from here for centuries!

Day 5: Lake Viverone, approx. 40 km.

Very sporty cyclists can start by visiting the impressive Castello di Masino (very steep climb for about 2 km). Those who prefer a more leisurely route follow the route over gentle hills and through small villages with historic churches and small castles. The lake promenade at Viverone offers beautiful swimming opportunities. The route continues through a lot of agriculture: kiwis, peaches and wine are grown along the cycle route!

Day 6: The moraine hills, approx. 35 km

Today’s stage first leads through maize fields to Castello Pavone. After a short climb you reach the Moraine Hills and are rewarded for the effort with breathtaking views of the valley. Along the royal wine route, small castles and palaces watch over the picturesque cycling route. The way back is exhilaratingly downhill towards Romano Canavese.

Day 7: Romano Canavese
