Itinerary

Route

The vast amount of available cycling routes shows that the Netherlands are a paradise for cyclists. The routes are flat and can be decreed easy.

Day 1: Enkhuizen
Individual arrival in Enkhuizen, approx. 65 km (60 minutes by car) northwest of Amsterdam. Boarding from 2:00 p.m. Afterwards, the skipper will tell you interesting facts about the trip and the ship over an aperitif and provide you with additional information about the safety measures on board.

Day 2: Enkhuizen – Medemblik – Den Oever, approx. 24-40 km
After your first night on the ship in Enkhuizen, your first bike tour begins. You will cycle along the IJsselmeer via Medemblik to Den Oever with its small, picturesque fishing harbor. Depending on the weather, the ship may already set sail for the Wadden Sea and the island of Texel today.

Day 3: Texel Island round trip, approx. 40-49 km
The island of Texel is known for its varied landscapes and picturesque villages. The well-signposted Thijsseroute (40 km), which takes you through picturesque villages, beautiful landscapes and to the North Sea, is a special insider tip. Along the way, you can visit the Ecomare seal sanctuary (guided tour included) and a small brewery in the harbor of Oudeschild.

Day 4: Texel Island – Terschelling Island (sailing day)
Today you will set sail for Terschelling. You will cross the Wadden Sea, where you may even see seals. Instead of dinner, you will enjoy a hearty lunch on deck, weather permitting. The route depends on the tides and wind. In the afternoon, you will reach Terschelling, a charming island with pretty villages. In the evening, you can explore the harbor with its restaurants and pubs (dinner is not included today).

Day 5: Terschelling Island – Harlingen, island tour approx. 70 km
Today it’s back on the bike. Terschelling offers nature and culture, 70 km of bike paths, and four beautiful villages. West-Terschelling, the largest town, has numerous shops and pubs. The island’s landmark, the 400-year-old Brandaris lighthouse, can be seen from afar. Also worth seeing is the heathland area “De Boschplaat” with mud flats, beaches, and dunes, where you can observe ducks, stilts, and colonies of spoonbills and black-headed gulls. In the afternoon, the ship sails to Harlingen.

Day 6: Harlingen – Franeker – Makkum, approx. 40-45 km
Via Franeker, with its famous Eise Eisinga Planetarium (visit included in the guided tour), the cycle tour continues through the extensive Frisian landscape dotted with small villages to Makkum on the eastern shore of the IJsselmeer. If you want to take the long cycle tour, you will also come to Bolsward, one of the eleven Frisian cities.

Day 7: Makkum – Stavoren – Enkhuizen, approx. 28-48 km
From Makkum, you cycle to Stavoren. The route takes you through the old trading town of Hindeloopen. With its old houses and canals and large marina, it is a popular destination for day trips. The longer route takes you along several Frisian lakes and opens up completely different perspectives of the landscape. From Stavoren, the ship then sets course for Enkhuizen.

Day 8: Enkhuizen
Disembarkation and individual journey home after breakfast (by 9:30 a.m.).

Day 2: Medemblik round trip | Medemblik – Den Oever/Texel, approx. 24-37 km
