You cycle on special bike paths, paved roads, gravel roads and double lanes. Boardwalks on the beaches. There are also sections on cobblestone streets, some of which are quite bumpy.

Arrival and transfer from Porto airport to Tui (Cat. A) or Valença do Minho (Cat. B).

The Minho River, which separates Spain and Portugal, provides an impressive backdrop for today’s tour. Start the day with a drive along its banks and enjoy the unspoiled nature. Your destination is Monção, where a visit to the imposing castle is a must. Afterwards, you cycle back to Valença or Tui, passing traditional houses of the north. Optionally, a detour to the Palácio de Brejoeira in Pinheiros is worthwhile.

Enjoy the peaceful view over the river as you cycle in a relaxed manner towards Vila Nova de Cerveira. The city, an important art center in northern Portugal, impresses with its charming city center, a castle and winding alleys. On the way to Caminha, you will follow the Minho and pass through picturesque villages and rural areas. Finally, you will reach the coast and cycle along beautiful beaches to Viana do Castelo (Cat. A). In category B, you will spend the night in the nearby Vila Praia de Âncora.

The church of Santa Luzia in Viana do Castelo offers a magnificent view and is a popular postcard motif. Stroll through the lively pedestrian streets, lined with cafes, restaurants and small shops, before following the bike path along the northern bank of the Lima River to Ponte de Lima. The path leads you through the nature reserve Lagos de Bretiandes, a paradise for bird lovers!

You cycle along the southern bank of the Lima River to the Gustave Eiffel Bridge. Continue over the Neiva River, which you cross like a pilgrim on a simple bridge. After two villages, you will reach Esposende, a coastal town with a pretty promenade, lighthouse and fortress – perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Follow the dunes and enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the landscape. Once you arrive at the beach, continue your journey to Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde. Póvoa impresses with the largest fishing port in northern Portugal, while Vila do Conde is known for its shipbuilding history from the Age of Discoveries. Continue along the coast until you reach the mighty Douro and finally the UNESCO World Heritage Center of Porto.
