Island Hopping in Greece
Thanks for the biking trip to the Greek islands. As a total it was an interesting experience to see and feel the islands from another perspective as usual.
Hotel in Kalavarda was a really good local family hotel. Typical Greece hotel almost in the countryside. We were in the hotel quite late, but they kept their kitchen open. Bike supplier fixed the bikes according to our wishes. Bike supplier was following us on the morning bike trip and fixed still some of them.
Hotel Bianco in Leros was good and the service was friendly and helpful. Positive attitude all the time. Biking on Leros island was OK on the main roads, which was not so many. We tried to find some smaller roads also, but they were rather narrow and really deep uphill and downhill.
On Leros we also visited an interesting small family owned vineyard and had wine tasting there.
On Kos island we spent some time in the town of Kos before biking to Mastichari. Hotel Sea Breeze was good. Close to the beach and the village. On the island Kos there were good roads for biking. We also met many bikers on the roads. I think that you can add one additional point of interest there; Hippocrates Park. Road to there is sandy gravel a few kilometers, but not too bad. At least to our group, including doctors, it was worth visiting.
Hotel Casa de la Sera in Rhodes was a good surprise. Old building well renovated. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to have the last day just to look at Rhodes city and all it can offer. Last evening my friends organized a surprise for me. With the good help of the hotel staff they organized a birthday celebration for me in the neighbouring restaurant. Good ending of the trip.
