Netherlands & Flanders by bike and boat 2026
For the most part, we were happy with a bike and barge. However, there were issues with my bike. I had no brakes on the left side and the right side brake squeal so badly many people commented on how irritating it was. After the first day, they gave me a new bike. However, it really wasn´t much better. I have done quite a few biking tours in the last few years and I am sorry to say I think the bikes need to be updated. I don´t know if there is enough time for your company or the company bike boat tours to assess the bikes between tours. We used our bike bikes on Saturday and got off to the barge at five and the other group was coming the next day at one, so I don´t think the bikes were maintained or looked out after we were done with them. They were definitely a few complaints about the quality of the bikes.
The boat for the most part was fine. However, we had no air-conditioning and so if you weren´t able to secure a fan, the rooms were way too hot to sleep in. Our understanding is that has been going on for several months and the owners of the vessel are not attending to the details of the ships needs. I think more effort from the owners of the vessel need to be put into maintaining the air-conditioning, fixing the ice machine,
Our representative from rad and reason was very pleasant to deal with however, we could not pay for the tours online and so we had to speak to her. We paid the deposit in November and in April. I received an email from her stating that my tour had been paid in full, but nobody had paid anything else. There was six of us on our first tour and four of us on second. This information unfortunately was not correct. The totals weren´t accurate until she realized that she had taken my payment in December and put it just towards my tours and nobody else´s. I thought that was a bit strange and so after many emails going back-and-forth, she realized that she had made the mistake of not putting the credit on everybody´s accounts rather than just mine. We worked it out, but I found it to be not my responsibility to balance and tell her what everybody owed. Because I was organizing for six people the first tour and for the second, I found it a bit overwhelming, and not necessarily my responsibility to figure where the mistakes were made.
