Enjoyable Cycling Holiday
My wife and I booked this tour a year ago and have been looking forward to it. Sadly, we were not able to follow the itinerary due to low water levels in the Danube. I feel the tour company did a reasonable job about working around this. The trips to Bratislava and Vienna were good and we were glad we were able to see these cities.
Ship was clean and staterooms were nice. Large bathroom was great. Stateroom attendants were pleasant but they did not really interact much with us. Just did their job. Never asked if we needed anything else?which we didn´t. So it was fine.
Dining room staff was also pleasant and efficient. Again, very little interactions With guests. Just went about their business.
Not attentive for getting the table more water. We had to ask every night for more water. The omelet chef was as the most friendly and enjoyed seeing him each day. He made great omelets.
Bike staff were efficient but not friendly.
Bar staff was variable. Most unfriendly but efficient. The one bartender was much nicer and friendlier than the other 2 or 3.
The Reception Staff were the highlight. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Thanks to Dami for his help and friendliness.
The Tour Director was probably the low light. Found him to be pompous, boring and very unhelpful. He was quite sarcastic and dismissive toward some guests (English speaking guests anyhow). After the change in itinerary, we were looking for an alternative transport to Vienna so we could stay longer. He said he would assist, but when I went to see him about this he was quite rude?.gave me poor information and did not end up helping us.
There are a few other examples I could give if you like.
The dining room was very hot as was the lounge. Staff tried their best to manage.
We chalked it up to cultural differences. The staff were all hard working and efficient. But besides a very few number of staff, we found them to be indifferent to guests.
Besides that, we did enjoy our trip. The food was very good quality. The biking along the Danube was excellent (what we did anyhow) and the ship, while pretty basic, was comfortable.
