A different kind of boat bike holiday. You glide along the waters on a 3 masted schooner over 100 years old. You can help to pull up the sails which is very exciting. The crew of 4 are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure that each and every guest is happy and all needs catered for.
Getting around the boat may need some agility as it involves clambering around steps and gang planks but there is always a crew member ready to give a steadying hand if needed. Bikes are carried on and off the boat by the crew. Due to the age of the boat the cabins are small but have the right amount of space and storage for a weeks holiday. For ventilation keep the bathroom port hole open when possible. Advised to leave cabin door ajar when you can for additional ventilation. Noise can travel at night to the cabins as the lounge area is close to some cabins - if you want an early night book one of the 2 upper deck cabins or take noise cancellation earbuds as they worked a treat.
The chef took us on a gastronomic tour of the world themed to each port of call with flavours and spices to match with a chef`s fascinating historical story links. The food was plentiful though may not suit everyone`s palate sometimes. The speed of which meals were served was outstanding and everything was at the appropriate temperature. There was always a fruit bowl at hand for additional snacks if needed. A fresh cake was baked each day. Breakfast and lunch pack were limited in variety but you could buy lunch out on some days if you needed a change.
The cycling routes were in varied natural landscapes which was very relaxing and made easy cycling. An electric bike is useful for the occasional strong winds on the polder tops --- `dutch mountains`. There was usually a choice of short and longer routes to choose from. The GPS navigator was excellent and maps and a talk from the crew each day. There was a shopping centre and a boat museum at the last day stop which were very interesting.
