Would prefer hotels more centrally located
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
However, I would be negligent in not mentioning that the location of some of our hotels was not optimal. When visiting foreign cities, I want to be in the city! Specifically:
1. B&B Hotels Passau-West was some distance from anything! It was a long walk from the train station, there was only 1 restaurant near it, and due to our arrival on Saturday it was over an hour on bus (on Sunday) from the bike pickup! We ended up taxing to the bikes instead. Additionally, the room was so small that 2 of us could not leave our suitcases open on the floor.
2. B&B Hotels Linz City-Ost is also some distance from central Linz. Due to having to deal with bike issues, we did not get into the central city, which I know from previous trips contains a beautiful square.
3. B&B Hotels Heiligenstadt in Vienna is also on the outskirts of Vienna. Since we were there 3 additional days, each day started with a 15 minute metro journey into town!
The other accomodations seemed to be well located!
A few comments on the app. I did not personally use it for navigation, as this is a very simple route to follow! But my nephew that did had a few comments:
1. It would be nice if it would give distance travelled / remaining for the day.
2. It would be nice if it would give better information as to locations of restaurants / sights mentioned in the guide book.
Sadly, this was probably my last bike trip due to my age. But if I do plan another I`ll be looking to Rad+Reisen to plan it!
