Holiday in the heart of Europe

3 years ago me and my husband discovered such a form of vacation as cycling tour, which left very pleasant impressions. This year we decided to repeat that experience and booked a tour around lake Constance. This trip turned out to be more demanding in terms of physical condition than the previous one, that was along Danube. First, we were accompanied by horribly hot weather, which turned some ascents on our way into a real torture. Second, the year of deskbound job has done its work, and our physical form was poor. However, we accommodated ourselves soon to it and took pleasure in surrounding landscapes and countryside views on our way. The weather had its advantages, too. We bathed almost every day in beautifully clear waters of lake Constance and Rhein. Rhein, with its waterfall and numerous fish and birds, fascinated us. As far as the sights on the route are concerned, I’d like to mention in particular Zeppelin museum in Friedrichshafen, Mainau island and inner delta of Rhein. We also took a detour to visit Traktormuseum am Bodensee on our way to Friedrichshafen. This museum offers much to see. And it’s not only tractors, but a retrospect on farmer’s way of life as well. We would recommend to include it into the list of tour’s points of interest. What’s for food specialties, I wish to hightlight Klosterkeller Mehrerau. The food there was delicious, and they had dark draught beer. Also, we took our chance to try local grocery, but unfortunately didn’t try lake Constance fish. In general, this tour became another bright impression to put in our box of memories. However, I want to make some remarks on the tour book (I know, it’s by Radweg Reisen, but anyway, here is my feedback): 1. The maps. It would be really helpful if the streets around hotels, sights etc. were named in the maps. Also, there were no directions to the points of interest. Sometimes it was really hard to find our way. 2. The opening hours. If the opening hours of places recommended to visit were mentioned in the tour book, it would be much easier to plan our schedule. Internet access was not always available to check some additional information, and we have missed some hightlights because of being late there. For example, we were late to visit Zeppelin museum and had to return there the other day.
