Great trip along the Danube River.
We thoroughly enjoyed our bike trip along the Danube leaving Passau on the 10th May. The very good weather ( low 20s temperature, only 1/2 hour light rain one morning, and mostly a tail wind) really contributed to this enjoyment. The route itself was generally picturesque and organisation of luggage and accommodation was excellent. Our bikes were comfortable to ride and in good condition. We had done a lot of riding training beforehand and it paid off as we found the (mostly flat) riding distances easy to manage.
Our only criticism of the trip was that it would have been better if the distances travelled each day were more evenly spread. Eg some days were only 45k or so between hotels, others were 65k. We also opted to ride all the way from Krems to Vienna ( 83k) on the last day rather than catch the train part way. A little more distance added on the ’short’ days would have reduced this final stretch.
