Our first bike trip with Rad Reisen and our 4th bike holiday in Europe. Great preparation and assistance from Katharina (all in English) before our departure from Australia. The bikes were both in good condition, one e-bike with Bosch electric assist had done many kms but was reliable and very stable to ride, battery life was excellent, controller reliable but needed to stop pedalling for effective gear changes. We found the route an interesting and varied selection of rural villages, quiet country roads, dedicated bike tracks through farmland, vineyards, along dykes, beside roads and rivers. A few hills to challenge the non e-bikers and an occasional rough dirt track (one inconveniently littered with bales of cut grass). Several border crossings were interesting! Weather was warm, some days up to 30C by mid afternoon, sunny and except for the last day, little or no wind. Plenty of places, shaded outdoor bars and cafes, to stop for refreshments. Local currency needed in Serbia, Hungary to pay for ferry crossings. Crew were very helpful morning and afternoon preparing bikes for departure and collecting as we arrived back at the boat. The Theodor Korner is an older boat with accommodation on three levels. Our cabin (middle level) was comfortable, cosy with just enough wardrobe space for storing soft sided luggage and hanging clothes. The cabin was cleaned daily, beds made up every eveing while we had dinner, clean towels as required. A .5L water was supplied per person daily. Meals were ok, 3 courses each evening chosen the night before for catering convenience. Breakfast was often an issue with long queues to access the buffet for breakfast and lunch making. On other boats/barges we have had staggered breakfast times with smaller groups which expediates the process, keeps people happy! Tour Director Andreas did a great job organising briefings, explaining the route often using a visual presentation. Where signage was confusing on the route, Rad Reisen has added stickers to signposts with an arrow pointing in the right direction. The map book in English was reasonably easy to follow. Of the 12 nationalities on board English speakers formed the majority of the group, which is apparently unusual. The sight seeing days in Bratislava, Budapest, Belgrave and Vienna provided a relaxing interlude with optional tours available for purchase. I would happily recommend this Tour to others.
