Passau to Budapest
This tour comprises of two sectors: Passau to Vienna with an extension to Budapest. The Passau to Vienna sector is very scenic and interesting. The accommodation was of a high standard but several hotels were on busy roads so rooms were noisy disrupting our sleep. The extension to Budapest did not live up to expectations. The route is away from the Danube and the terrain is very uninteresting. Cycle paths in Hungary were generally good but every now and again finished without warning and with no directions as to where to go. Hotels were as described and the Hotel Bow Garden a ’must stay’. Bikes were generally satisfactory and suitable for this type of holiday. When we had to contact Julia at R&R we were promptly assisted and felt supported by her advice.
Locating our hotels was the main difficulty. It would seem to be better if the route and the directions to the hotels was on an app so that GPS could be used to guide the cyclist to the hotel. Books were still handy and used extensively.
