Best Danube Bicycle Holiday
This is our third Bike & Boat tour with RAD+RIESEN, and it was enjoyable as always. The bicycles are top notch, and the dinner was delicious every evening. It was comfortable to see that many of the ship’s crew were the same from previous years, making you feel like a family. This tour was towards the end of July 2018, when Europe was experiencing a heat wave, so the air conditioning in the ship’s cabins was not capable of keeping up with the heat. Luckily, we could open our cabin window, which helped. As always, the best cycling day was Krems to Melk, cycling through the Wachau Valley, and tasting the wines from the area. The second best day was from Mauthausen to Grein, beautiful scenery, and stopping in Mitterkirchen to taste the delicious wines made there. The most spectacular scenery occurs on the last day, where you climb the mountain to see the great Schologen Loop - a memory that will last you a lifetime. All in all, a great and wonderful trip, recommend that you consider doing this trip either early (May) or late (September, October) to escape the heat.
