biking the Istrian peninsula in Croatia
The Istrian peninsula in Croatia is beautiful, but it does not offer good bicycle trails. Only a small part of our trip was on dedicated, separated, bicycle trails. Most of it was on roads and highways, with not even a separate lane for bicycles. Thus, we had to watch out for cars all the time. Some of the roads were highways filled with fast-moving cars. Also, the roads went up a down all the hills, rather than around the hills as bicycle trails usually do. Some of the hills were extremely long and steep and more than we really wanted. So it was a difficult journey, but we still did enjoy it because we love to bicycle, the country is beautiful, and our accomodations were beautiful. - Art Hobson
