Mallorca Island Tour
This trip was an astounding experience but it was quite challenging because of the hills. This was our 5th bike tour and definitely the most arduous. My husband and I are more "vacation" cyclists rather than serious cyclists and I definitely would have benefited from an e-bike, However, I persevered and felt very good about my accomplishment being a 67 year old female who is pretty fit. There were a few times I had to walk the bike a bit especially on the 3rd day but all in all it was a great ride and the weather was perfect for cycling...not too hot..
Mallorca caters to cyclists that come there to train so it was not unusual to be passed by a peloton of riders frequently.
The drivers in Mallorca seem to be quite courteous to bikers so when riding on busy roads they gave a wide berth.
One negative for us was being there mid March it was difficult to find cafe’s or restaurant’s that were open to stop at especially the first couple of days.
The accommodations were very nice (mostly with sea views) and having breakfast and dinner included made it easy. The huge buffets were good and offered a wide variety of food.
The bikes were new and in great condition however they were quite heavy. We always bring our own seats to ensure a comfortable ride.
The road books were pretty good except for a few spots. We did get off track a few times but were able to figure it out easily using google maps.
Heinz of Sunbike Tours was more than helpful and we had a delightful day touring the monastery and eating a delicious lunch at his favorite restaurant after biking downhill for 17 km.
We really loved this trip and look forward to many more.
