April 2019 Passau to Vienna
Overall we had a good experience. However there were several details that were less than positive.
1. The various documents about route segments often were not synchronized. We would have much preferred one document that gave us more detail about the possibilities on a given segment; coordinating these details with the map book would have made the trip more organized and interesting.
2. We wish there would have been an option for a higher quality bike (with spring...)
3. The kilometers/day were not logically divided. The segment to Bad Kreuzen was over 70 km. Unfortunately it was a windy day and we arrived at the BEAUTIFUL hotel very late - with only time for dinner. We couldn’t use the facilities or be outdoors due to the late hour. On the other hand, the following day, we had only 35 kms on our route. We got to our hotel at 15:00! That particular hotel in Marbach was not great: Small hot room with low ceilings. It would have made much more sense to divide the km/day more evenly.
4. Further to point #3: On our last riding day we were scheduled to cycle from Marbach to Krems then take the train from Krems to Tulln, finishing our riding with a cycle from Tulln to Vienna. If we had done this we would have arrived after 22:00!!! Luckily we decided to take the train from Krems to Vienna and we still only arrived at 20:00. Poor planning/division of the distances each day......
4. The ROOMZ hotel in Vienna unfortunately had a problem with the room’s air conditioning. AT first we were told that the entire hotel was not yet air-conditioned as it was only April; however it was clear that the rest of the hotel was appropriately cooled. We asked to change rooms the second night and that air conditioner worked. The rooms did not have any water glasses. There was no soap in the shower in both rooms.
