Passau to Vienna 9 day luxury.
Passau hotal was fine, my brother had some problem parking the car, Hotel donauschlinge is getting a little bit old, but the pool and service were good, Austria trend hotel, Linz was OK although I probably wouldn’t choose it again, Schiffmeisterhaus, Ardagger, the room was fine, but we had problems with the meal as the owner was the only one serving and so we had to wait one hour to be served and then we were given the ala carte menu, but gave up trying to get a pudding and then in the morning he said he had made a mistake in giving us the alacarte menu and charged us 75 euros for our meal.The next night we were at Hotel zur Poste which was good. Hotel Schloss Durnstein was excellent and the best hotel of our trip, but because of our experience 2 nights previously when we were told we could have anything from the menu we weren?t sure whether we would get a big bill the next day and so were not sure what to order. We were fortunate to be there at the feast of Corpus Christie and very much enjoyed the festival the next day.
As you know we had problems with the voucher for the wine tasting which had been omitted and then we were given one for a site that we had passed the previous day. Diamond city hotel Tulln was a modern OK hotel and Steigenberger Hotel Wien was excellent apart from a little initial problem when they had managed to hide half our luggage in a cupboard! The concert in Vienna was very well played, but the changed auditorium was not vey attractive and very hot and with very many people from viking tours filing the place and I would have preferred something a little smaller and more special. One of the highlights of our trip was a side trip to the Augustin monastery at Sankt Florian where we had a wonderful conducted tour followed by an excellent organ concert and there is a very good restaurant. It would be useful to have more information about this in the booklet
